The Departments of Dermatology has been a staple of the UCI Health System since 1979. Initially the department started with a few faculty and has now grown to include 18 full time faculty, 9 clinic locations, a Dermatopathology Lab which is actively expanding outreach, a diverse research portfolio, and a competitive residency and surgical fellowship program. Under supervision of the Principal Investigator, the incumbent will assist in managing the laboratory, coordinating clinical research, and conducting basic research in skin biology and skin diseases. The incumbent will be the laboratory safety officer and ensure that lab members have appropriate training. The incumbent will be responsible for managing laboratory protocols, ordering supplies and equipment, and overseeing the functional operation of laboratory apparatus and space. The incumbent will perform administrative support for human subjects research activities including organization and upkeep of Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols and help with managing patient tissue/cell samples. In the laboratory, the incumbent will perform bench experimentation in support of active research projects. Key skills include molecular cloning; basic mouse handling, PCR and quantitative PCR; DNA/RNA/protein isolation, characterization, and quantification; mammalian cell culture. Incumbent should have experience with processing and analyzing data for scientific interpretation. Experience with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), graphics software (Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop or similar), and molecular biology software (SnapGene, Geneious, ApE, Sequencher, others) is preferred but not required. Experience with R, Python, and bioinformatics tools is valuable but not required. The Incumbent will be integrated as a key laboratory representative to facilitate day-to-day laboratory productivity and operations, and will promote laboratory activities to advance knowledge of skin biology and understanding of skin diseases.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $25.64 - $28.57 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $25.64 - $30.59 (Hourly Rate).
