- Two years of experience in administration and coordination of research and/or policy related activities.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, economics, public policy, statistics, political science, public health, or an allied field.
- Knowledge of common organization and other computer application programs as well as experience in new media communications, social and digital media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blogging, podcasting, etc.), including familiarity with online research analytics as well as basic scientific, social media and graphic design terminology and trends.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills to correctly identify real and potential problems, advising management as required, and proposing effective strategic resolutions. Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Demonstrated ability to work and prioritize in a multi-project, deadline driven environment with attention to detail and follow through.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-faceted programs and projects.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues.
- Thorough knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and procedures of building and maintaining effective relations with internal and external constituencies. Experience designing and developing content for websites.
- Proven ability to work both collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.
- Advanced degree and experience in the aforementioned fields is preferred.
- Complete understanding of and appreciation for population research and public policy.
- Demonstrated experience working with faculty and administrators within the UC system and with a diverse public outside the academy.
