The Program Director is an advanced-level clinical research professional with the clinical research project management experience to independently manage and oversee overall administration and operations of two large projects: the U.S. POINTER Study and the Greater Sacramento Women’s Brain Health Program (GROW). U.S. POINTER is a multidomain behavioral intervention trial to prevent cognitive decline sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association; GROW combines parallel efforts in community outreach and observational research to engage historically underrepresented populations in important brain health education and longitudinal research collecting data on life course factors to assess risk and resilience factors for brain health and cognitive decline. The position will include direct oversight, management, and training of senior-level staff and multiple supervisors who will oversee larger teams of entry level coordinators, health educators, and recruitment specialists who will administer the research programs.
This 100% career position will directly report to Dr. Rachel Whitmer and will work closely with the PIs, department personnel, study clinicians, Northern CA Alzheimer’s Association staff, community organizations and leaders, SOM and UCDH leadership counterparts, and outside vendors. The Program Director is responsible for designing, planning, and directing the operations of the research programs, including but not limited to administrative, strategic, compliance, data management, regulatory, and personnel functions. The incumbent determines objectives and defines subordinate goals to meet those objectives, develops strategies and policies, manages human, financial, and physical resources, and functions with a high degree of autonomy.
