University of California- Davis Health is Hiring a Nurse Coordinator (CLIN NURSE 2) - Cardiac Catheterization Lab Near Sacramento, CA

The Cardiovascular Nurse Coordinator provides direct patient care, resources, coordination, and/or case manages the cardiovascular patient population across the continuum of care. The incumbent integrates care with a multidisciplinary team to facilitate patient care from pre-procedure through maintenance and follow-up care. Responsible for coordinating and/or facilitating care related to adult Cardiology patients assigned to Cardiovascular services at the expert cardiovascular nursing level. Utilizes institutional resources to enhance own clinical decision-making. Applies analytical skills to effectively research and participate in the decision-making process regarding clinical issues. Responsible for data collection for performance improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of RN experience
  • Minimum 3 years procedural RN (Cath Lab, EP Lab, OR) experience, or minimum 3 years of RN experience caring for cardiac patients
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR or UCDH-issued CPR Certification
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately.
  • Knowledge of current trends in nursing.
  • Commitment to excellence in patient care.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates accountability and professionalism.
  • Ability to adapt to change in a positive, professional and productive manner.
  • Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentation.
  • Knowledge of performance improvement and evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, taking into consideration protective interventions, development (behavioral and physical) and physiological characteristics specific to the patients
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of accepted treatments for patients with cardio-related conditions.
  • Must have superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have good critical thinking skills and be an active listener.
  • Must be a superb multi-tasker.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Good decision making skills to exercise sound judgment are necessary.
  • Must have excellent complex problem solving skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must have good leadership skills.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.

  • MSN, or BSN with MS in a position-related field required
  • Cardiovascular nursing certification
  • Critical Care experience
  • Heart failure population experience
  • Case management experience
  • Telephone triage experience

  • Knowledge of interventional scheduling

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to work overtime, float to other areas and work weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to safely lift 25 lbs. and assist in moving patients, and stand on feet over extended periods.
