Departmental Overview
The Rausser College of Natural Resources includes UC Berkeley faculty, Cooperative Extension specialists, graduate students, and undergraduates working in a variety of research areas including but not limited to:
Agriculture and agricultural economics Energy technologies and policy Environmental and climate-change science, policy, and ecology Fire science, safety, and policy Food safety, food supply, food additives Insects and wildlife biology Natural Resources: science, ecology, and conservation of water, soil, and energy. Nutrition and metabolism Plant and microbial biology, genetically modified organisms Sustainable energy, farming systems, natural resource management, etc.
The Communications team manages communications for the Dean's Office and departments within the college.

Responsibilities
Conceives and produces and files, graphics, and /or illustrations for visual media, including print and the web dedicated to the mission of the Rausser College of Natural Resources. Consults with Rausser clients to plan and design presentation of visual information effectively and appropriate to target core RCNR audiences and to the selected visual medium; products may include but are not limited to publications, brochures, displays, presentation slides, proposals, technical manuals, web sites, and other visual communications. Assesses complex or otherwise challenging scientific natural resources written material and data and devises the best ways to present it visually to enhance its clarity and impact. Develops and produces visual presentations, devising visual themes that strengthen the communication of ideas and information. Works closely with the Communications Director, Communications Specialists, and other project managers, writers, and clients to understand communication requirements, determines most appropriate media, and creates cost-effective products. Effectively meet budget and time constraints set by supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of design and communications concepts and applicable software applications. Advanced knowledge of production processes for a variety of media. Advanced knowledge of and/or ability to learn the location, including its vision, mission, goals, and objectives. Advanced design, creative and artistic skills. Advanced skills to devise broad design ideas, present them to clients, and produce results on time and within budget. Advanced interpersonal communications skills, including active listening skills and skills to work effectively within teams and to effectively provide advanced design advice and consultation to clients on all aspects of visual communications. Critical thinking skills, advanced organizational skills and proactive problem-solving / problem resolution skills. Ability to lead and mentor others in the department.
Education
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Salary & Benefits
