Departmental Overview
(Innovations for Youth (i4Y) at the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health, is a cross-disciplinary, innovative research hub addressing issues of youth equity through collaborative research, training and community engagement. Youth and Allies against Homelessness (YAAH) is a youth-engaged research group focused on describing and addressing the social determinants of health of youth experiencing homelessness (YEH) Led by Prof. Auerswald who has conducted community and youth-engaged research regarding YEH for 26 years, YAAH is staffed by graduate, undergraduate, and paid community youth interns, all of whom have lived experience of homelessness or have demonstrated deep commitment to marginalized youth. Our collaborators will include faculty at the UCSF Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative.

Responsibilities
Training, supervising and managing research team; Monitoring and analyzing study progress and budgets. Developing quantitative data collection instruments, recruiting quantitative research subjects, conducting statistical studies in support of research protocols. Development of secondary administrative data database, analysis of secondary data Developing qualitative data collection instruments, recruiting qualitative research subjects, conducting qualitative analysis in support of research protocols. Communication with communities, advocates, funders, research participants, and the academic community regarding findings via reports, briefs, and academic papers Prepares reports and / or analyses for internal team, department evaluation and analysis, and reporting to funders. To participates in workshops, training, and other professional development opportunity Other duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Ability to work independently and as a member of a research team. Strong quantitative data analysis skills, preferably employing R. Strong quantitative data presentation skills. Strong quantitative data collection skills. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and strong initiative. Development and management of databases. Excellent communication and writing skills. Commitment to mentoring the undergraduate and graduate students working on the project. Demonstrated commitment and passion for addressing the needs of marginalized communities, with a preference for experience with homeless individuals or marginalized youth. Experience managing and working with large teams Ability to prioritize, coordinate laboratory responsibilities with other group members. Experience developing and revising IRB protocols. Ability to manage multiple teams, projects, and tasks to meet deadlines and achieve goals
Education/Training:
Masters Degree in Public Health, Social Welfare, or related field and/or equivalent experience/training required.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $62,315.34 (step 1.0) - $75,950.42 (Step 11.0)
This position is exempt and paid monthly.
This is an 18-month, 100% full-time (40 hours per week), limited (temporary) position that is eligible for UC benefits.
This is a hybrid position, eligible for 50% remote capability.
This position is governed by the terms and conditions in the agreement for the Research Support Professionals Unit (RX) between the University of California and the University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE). The current bargaining agreement manual can be found at: http://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/labor/bargaining-units/rx/index.html . The automatic conversion to career status, as provided in Section B.2. above, will not occur when: The funding for the position is "one time" funding, of eighteen (18)
months or less.
