Departmental Overview
The University Library is comprised of more than 20 libraries including the Doe/Moffitt Libraries, The Bancroft Library, The C.V. Starr East Asian Library, the Northern Regional Library Facility and additional libraries that serve as subject specialty resources for departments and schools.
Library Security protects Library Properties, Staff, and Patrons with the underlying characteristics of integrity, customer service, commitment, and enthusiasm for exceptional work ethic.

Responsibilities
Periodically patrols the Doe Main, Doe Annex, Gardner Main Stacks and the Moffitt Library buildings. Enforces the Library Policy on Conduct, rules of Conduct in Campus Buildings, and California laws. Monitors security cameras, the security access control, radio transmissions and work emails. Tests security tools to ensure they are functioning properly. Maintains a chronological record of security-related activities (Daily Activity Reports, Incident Reports, and emailed reports). Reports illegal, suspicious, criminal activity to UCPD. Maintains operational control and supervision of all the student security monitors, working during the shift and for hiring, training and overseeing Bancroft student security employees. Responds to incidents reported, complaints reported or to any emergency situation. Takes appropriate action including notifying UCPD and superiors.
Required Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with coworkers, other Library employees, regular Library patrons as well as disruptive individuals attracted to the Library. Must be committed to a high level of public service as well as a firm treatment of persons who threaten the safety of people and the orderly research environment of the Library. Demonstrate effective multitasking, demonstrate ability to work with a team and independently, and exercising proactiveness, demonstrate the ability to complete assigned projects. Must have proficient computer skills and experience in the operation and applications related to electronic security systems, particularly the Software House, C-cure 9000 Alarm, CCTV, and dedicated camera platforms.
Education
High School Diploma.
Preferred Qualifications
Licenses/Certifications
Security guard state license (BSIS) and safety training certificate. Certification in First Aid, CPR and AED.
Salary & Benefits
This is a 100% full-time (40 hours per week) non-exempt career position, which is paid bi-weekly and eligible for full UC Benefits. Hourly pay for this role is commensurate with experience within the range of $20.96 (step 7.0) - $24.53 (step 15.0).
