Departmental Overview
The Center for interdisciplinary Critical Inquiry (CICI), is home to the Berkeley Center for the Study of Religion (BCSR), The Berkeley Democracy and Theology Program, The Program in Critical Theory, International Consortium for Critical Theory Programs, Digital Humanities, and Environmental Arts and Humanities Berkeley. Led by several prominent and energetic UC faculty, these dynamic campus units and programs conduct research, produce lectures and symposia, award faculty and student fellowships, host visiting scholars, and, in the Program in Critical Theory and BCSR, offer a Designated Emphasis to qualifying PhD students. Over 100 faculty and students from numerous departments are represented by the four units including Anthropology, Berkeley Law School, Comparative Literature, East Asian Studies, Education, English, Ethnic Studies, French, German, History, History of Art, Performance Studies, Political Science, Rhetoric, Sociology, among others. CICI fosters cross-divisional collaborations in order to address key political, social, religious, and cultural issues of our time - borders and migration, racism, pandemics, authoritarianism, and climate change. In addition to coordinating collaborative projects and events across disciplinary, divisional and regional lines, CICI identifies emerging fields of inquiry such as Psychedelics and the Humanities. We are committed to thinking creatively across an array of fields to develop a capacious vision of the arts, humanities and sciences in relation to critical thought, justice and ethics.

Responsibilities
GRANTS - FUNDING - DEVELOPMENT - ADMINISTRATION
Collaborates with PIs and Director and is responsible for project management, disbursement of funds, creating new grant proposals, tracking grant terms, and working with committees and boards. Assists with fundraising activities such as BIG GIVE, researches additional funding opportunities.
EVENT SUPPORT
Working with Events Manager, helps plan, promote, and execute a variety of large and small events (from multi-day conferences to small faculty talks) in BCSR, APARRI, CT, ICCTP and other programs as needed. May include mailings, poster design, website postings, registration management, A/V support, day-of support, and post-event follow-up.
COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT
In conjunction with Communications Manager, assist with social media, event postings on websites, updating Events calendar, creating flyers and posters, and newsletter creation and mailings.
DE/FACULTY SUPPORT
Works with Student Affairs Manager to help coordinate grad student working groups, help track DE courses, assist with applications and admissions, plan executive committee meetings, etc.
OTHER DUTIES
General programmatic tasks/special projects as requested by Center Manager and/or Director.
Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs. Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality. Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns. Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail. Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques. Knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, account and fund management, personnel management. Knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees. Knowledge of common University -specific computer application programs including MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Audition, Filemaker, Word Press, PC and MacIntosh Platforms. Knowledge of a variety of administrative operations activities such as events planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines. Interpersonal communication skills to include verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills Skills in short- and long-term strategic planning, analysis and problem-solving and customer service.
Salary & Benefits
This is a part-time (32 hours per week, partially remote), 2-year contract position eligible for full UC Benefits. Extension is possible with continued funding.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $27.06 - $37.36.
