Departmental Overview
The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics consists of more than 275 staff members and coaches and sponsors 30 varsity sports programs. These 30 programs include more than 850 student-athletes who participate in the various sports programs annually within the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). We are currently seeking a candidate with extensive college football experience who will work within the department's football recruiting department.
The Director of Player Personnel will serve as the primary support role to the 10 coaches throughout all phases of the recruitment process of prospective student-athletes. This position oversees all Football recruiting operational duties, gathering prospect evaluation information, assisting with development of Football recruiting strategies, and will create/implement standardized systems for prospect evaluation to be utilized by the entire football staff.
Responsibilities
Develop key relationships with all prospective student-athletes and their families visiting campus. Provide critical post visit follow up and campus contact introductions based on identified academic and athletic interests. Assist coaching staff with evaluation of prospective student-athletes and provide position specific reports to the football coaching staff. Assist recruiting staff with outreach to prospective student-athletes on behalf of Cal Football. Provide creative input and assist in execution of 72-week vision of Recruiting Calendar tool which records and memorializes our interactions with potential recruits (Mail, video, graphics, social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). Ensure all activities are compliant with NCAA rules and regulations in conjunction with our Compliance Recruitment & Eligibility Coordinator. Responsible for execution of all official and unofficial visits to campus including the arranging and follow through of all logistics (i.e. itineraries, travel, hotel, hosts, meals, compliance paperwork, complimentary tickets, etc.). Provide critical support to current roster members in form of life skills development, mentorship and community outreach opportunity explorations. Serve as liaison between football staff and Cameron Institute staff.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of and ability to use scouting service reports and web-based recruiting content to evaluate prospects and their fit within the Football program. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. Demonstrated experience preparing and managing mailing campaigns. Candidates must possess strong written and oral communication skills. Prior work experience at a Division I Power 5 Football program. Problem-solving skills; multi-task, work with frequent interruptions, and effective listener. Must be proficient in use of FileMaker, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and common desktop/web applications. Working knowledge of current social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Education
Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent training or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with the Jumpforward recruiting database and working knowledge of prospect film services such as "Hudl" and XOS film systems.
Salary & Benefits
This is a full-time (40 hrs per week), limited (temporary) position lasting approx. 5.5 months
