Summary of Job Duties:The School of Social Work in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas has an opening for a Program Administrator. This position will oversee the STEAM Summer Camp that will take place for one week at the U of A campus. Rising 6th graders from the AR Delta will come for STEAM instruction, hands-on learning activities, and academic and career development. This is a part-time, 50% appointed position.
This position will:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the STEAM Summer Camp curriculum and lesson plans.
- Travel to White Hall, AR at least once a month to meet with school administrators, teachers, parents, and community leaders to share information about the program and to garner their interest in and support for the project.
- Conduct focus groups with parents to learn about their thoughts regarding the summer camp, its curriculum and activities, and parent concerns regarding the camp.
- Travel to White Hall, AR to recruit 5th grade students (and their parents) for the summer camp. This position will attend school events, 5th grade parent/teacher conferences, and community events.
- Travel to White Hall, AR several times per semester to teach 5th grade STEAM classes and to assist them with 5th grade teacher training.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret pre- and post-data findings for the STEAM Summer Program.
- Along with other staff, set up new lab equipment at the school and train the teachers on how to use it.
- Hire and train UA instructors for the camp sessions, hire an hourly student (year round) and student workers/mentors to work with the campers all week.
- Develop relationships with Crystal Bridges, the Amazeum, and other NWA venues that can provide summer campers with STEAM learning opportunities.
- Plan learning activities for the kids in the greater NWA Community.
- Collaborate with UA Housing, Chartwells Dining, and other departments on campus to house and feed the students, secure labs for summer sessions, plan activities with the athletic and other departments.
- Purchase all equipment and supplies for the summer camp.
- Attend monthly team meetings to plan for recruitment, data collection, assist with report writing, etc.
- Write manuscripts for publication based on data findings from the project.
- Present research at national STEAM Conferences.
- Any other tasks and responsibilities that arise.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.Qualifications:
