The Criminal Justice Institute (CJI) is a campus of theUniversity of Arkansas Systemthat serves a unique population of non-traditional students-certified law enforcement professionals who are actively employed within our State's police departments and sheriff's offices. The Institute is committed to making communities safer by supporting law enforcement professionals through training, education, resources and collaborative partnerships. Utilizing both classroom-based instruction and practical, hands-on application, CJI provides an educational experience designed to enhance the performance and professionalism of law enforcement in progressive areas of criminal justice, including law enforcement leadership and management, crime scene investigation, computer applications, traffic safety, illicit drug investigations and school safety. Minimum Qualifications:
* Subject Matter Expert in the area of instruction.
* Previous instructional experience.
* At least five years' experience in the [either law enforcement/criminal justice industry/field or school administration] and/or field of instruction.
* Satisfactory background check (certified law enforcement and school administrators excluded).
* Agreement of terms and conditions of Lecturer/Instructor employment agreement.
* Ability to travel to instruction site.
* A minimum of an Associate's is required for all degree program courses.
* Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval of the Director of the Criminal Justice Institute.
Additional Information:
The Criminal Justice Institute Instructor is responsible for increasing student learning through:
1. The development of a relevant and progressive curriculum focused on the needs of the Arkansas [law enforcement community or school districts, depending upon position].
2. The design and implementation of effective learning strategies and environments.
3. Delivering high quality instruction and presenting lesson plans on scheduled class days in an engaging and well-communicated manner.
4. Supporting various learning styles by providing several strategies for consuming the same content (ex: slides, lecturing, videos, and/or readings).
5. Providing students with additional support and guidance when asked.
6. Adjusting course outlines on an annual basis to ensure information is up-to-date and relevant.
