Summary of Job Duties:The Research Program Manager reports to the Associate Director of Administration and provides data management, analysis, data synthesis, interpretation, reporting and dissemination of data that characterizes the populations and communities within the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute catchment area. The Research Program Manager will be responsive to request from cancer center members and provide primary support for acquiring, aggregating, and integrating data from multiple sources to inform the cancer center's strategic planning and coordination of research, clinical, education, and outreach programs. The Research Program Manager will provide data that will help the cancer institute describe the catchment area using a multilevel population health framework. The Manager will facilitate internal and external collaborations to better define the catchment area using data from the Arkansas Central Cancer Registry (ACCR), the SEER Program, the All-Payer Claims Database (APCD), the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), county level data using social determinants measures from the PhenxToolkit, internal databases that characterize the patient population (e.g. cancer, risk factor, social determinants data) and other relevant databases. The Research Program Manager will facilitate access to ACCR/SEER data through the Arkansas Department of Health. The Manger will work collaboratively among the various Cancer Institute research groups, UAMS departments, and external partners to ensure robust communication for the timely management and completion of assigned projects focused on delivering insights to reduce the cancer burden in Arkansas. The duties of the Research Program Manager directly contribute to the NCI designation efforts.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree PLUS Five (5) years of program management experience to include demonstrated proficiency in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, or related field.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills required.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, charts, graphs, and other methods

  • Strong quantitative skills including statistical modeling (e.g., linear and logistic regression, Cox proportional hazard regression, and other analytic analyses used in longitudinal prospective cohort studies).

  • Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, manage multiple programs at one time, and integrate changes smoothly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, data science, informatics, or related field PLUS 3 years of experience working with large databases, data verification, and data management

  • Knowledge of SEER or cancer surveillance data.

  • Working knowledge of claims data.

  • Knowledge of epidemiology and population health measurement.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate data management and analysis for all aspects of the Arkansas Central Cancer Registry (ACCR), the SEER Program, APCD, BRSS, and external and internal databases.

  • Coordinate projects for population-based cancer research, including cancer incidence and mortality (or survival), using relevant internal and external data bases.

  • Analyze data from large prospective cohort studies involving the faculty of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.

  • Interpret and write up results, tables, and figures for peer-reviewed publications, conferences and other public dissemination.

  • Support the SEER Program Principal Investigator(s) and oversee all subcontracts.

  • Assist with grant applications, including preparation of preliminary analyses.

  • Facilitate access to ACCR/SEER data and related bio-specimens for Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute researchers.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
