The Batesville Career Coach is stationed at Batesville High School. The Career Coach reports to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and is a 12-month position. 1. Providing early outreach to students with information about the importance of postsecondary education, as well as accurate information on how to prepare, apply, and pay for it. 2. Providing interest inventories and skills assessments to assist individuals in making informed career decisions. 3. Facilitating the development of individual career plans and portfolios. 4. Assisting students with enrolling in post-secondary education or training programs. 5. Help students complete college applications, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Arkansas Youniversal application, and other necessary steps to attend post-secondary education. 6. Facilitate and/or support for collegiate placement testing (primarily ACT or Accuplacer). 7. Providing information on careers, career pathways, and educational requirements. Providing opportunities for job shadowing, mentoring, internships, visits to business and industry, and other career awareness activities. 8. Providing or connecting low-income students to support services that will ease the transition to postsecondary education. 9. Connecting educationally disadvantaged students to “bridge programs” that teach basic academic skills in the context of training for advancement to better jobs and postsecondary education. 10.
