The Applied Environmental Research Center (AERC) is a center within the Business Enterprise Institute (BEI). The BEI provides a platform for a high-level consultancy between industry and the University of Alaska (UA), while serving as a bridge to resources, expertise and talents across the entire UA system. Offering economic development related research and technical assistance, high-level professional education, small business development services, and youth entrepreneurship programming, the work of the BEI not only links UA economic development programs, but also supports business and entrepreneurial capacities across Alaska.

This position is for individuals interested in beginning their careers as research technicians with projects affiliated with the University of Alaska Anchorage, Applied Environmental Research Center. Candidates will learn essential skills needed for performing work as research technicians.

To thrive in this role, the successful candidate should be enthusiastic about both research done in a wildlife setting as well as the data analytics in an office setting. The successful candidate should be amenable to working on various different types of research projects with no two days being the same.

Minimum Qualifications:

One year college coursework directly related to the research(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and one year of experience in a field relevant to the research (STEM); or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 76, based on education and experience.
