The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks an IMMIGRATION ADVISOR J-1 to foster a welcoming and supportive environment for international scholars (exchange visitors) by providing information and support on J-1 immigration status issues. To serve as Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the university s J-1 international exchange visitor program. To advocate for international scholars by assisting with administrative issues that interfere with the accomplishment of their research objectives. To serve as co-Training Program Liaison (TPL) with the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) to onboard J-1 residents and fellows. To advise international scholars on matters of immigration compliance and university policy.
(Annual Salary: $33,280 - $54,080)
Bachelor's degree in International Studies, Pre-Law, Higher Education or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident and pass a background check every four years as required by federal regulations for certification as Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).
