Job Description
The Heersink School of Medicine, Department of Surgery is currently recruiting faculty candidates to be considered for an open-rank, non-tenure or tenure track faculty appointment in the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery. The successful candidate will have an interest in health services research. The successful candidate will be expected to meet research and teaching needs in the Department of Surgery. The Division is actively involved in clinical research aimed at quality improvement for surgical patients as well as basic science research including investigations into the impact of metabolic surgery on anxiety and drug addiction. The Division also houses a highly sought after minimally invasive surgery fellowship. In addition to our focus on patient care, we provide an environment that supports the education of health professionals and encourages advanced research to further medical science.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham, one of three autonomous institutions within The University of Alabama System, is the only four-year, public university in the state’s largest metropolitan area. Required Qualifications
REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will hold an Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D., and will be an outstanding leader and highly skilled, widely recognized in the field with a strong track record. Candidate should have substantial professional work experience in one or more areas of research, teaching and/or service.
