Job Description

This role will serve the UAB Health System in the capacity as a senior developer for the Enterprise Data Warehouse Team with a focus on The Legacy of Hope organization. The developer will focus on the timely completion of projects and initiatives for the UAB Medicine Enterprise Data Warehouse.

The Data Warehouse Developer 3 role will work on data related projects independently and collaborate on larger projects with the architectural team. This role is expected to know the methods, tools, and skills of a data warehouse team. The developer is expected to have well developed skills in SQL, stored procedures, and scaling business intelligence architecture. This position will also entail developing SAP BusinessObjects reports, Microsoft SSRS reports, and developing Tableau dashboards.

Duties

  • Develop SSRS reports and Tableau dashboards related to the Legacy of Hope business needs
  • Perform unit testing and validation on data artifacts created
  • Ensure that projects and assigned tasks are thoroughly documented according the project management requirements of the Enterprise Data Warehouse Team
  • Communicate with customers in the health system on the status of assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Maintain data lifecycle and quality standards
  • Actively monitor data quality issues through data lineage analysis
  • Progress skillsets to master data modeling and architect enterprise data systems
  • Proactively monitoring of database environments with regards to ETL
Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering
  • 6-10 years’ experience with SQL and developing stored procedures in a Microsoft environment
  • 6-10 years’ experience with Business Intelligence tools, preferably SQL Server, SSRS reports, and Power BI

Desired Skills (not required)

  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools in a healthcare setting
  • Exposure to Tableau and / or BusinessObjects
  • Programming language such as Java or Python
  • Experience in Cloud computing such as Snowflake, Azure, or AWS
  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages
  • Master’s degree in healthcare or data analytics related field
