We are searching for someone to join our dynamic team who shares the same passion and mission. We are looking for a Partnership Program Research Associate for our Notre Dame International Security Center (NDISC). This position is a one-year appointment commencing Fall 2023.
Who we are: The Notre Dame International Security Center (NDISC) is a research, teaching, and public affairs programming center affiliated with the Department of Political Science and housed within the College of Arts and Letters. Since 2008, NDISC has provided a forum for national security scholars at the University of Notre Dame and elsewhere to come together to explore the most pressing issues in national security policy.
Who we need: The ideal candidate is a recent college graduate with the desire to pursue a career in international security either through government service or the private sector. Studies in the area of international security affairs, broadly defined, is a plus. Proven ability to work successfully as a member of a team in a dynamic professional environment and prior leadership roles are a must.
The primary responsibilities of the Partnership Program Research Associate will be to engage our audiences in the Center's activities and research and in doing so to increase our presence in the field. The position will also collaborate with the Director and Principals to execute a variety of the educational, research, and public affairs programs of the Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The position will support the Center's mission by collaborating with the Director, Faculty, and Principals with the educational, research, and public affairs programs of the Center. This will include independent research, including writing & editing papers, and will require professional knowledge, involve complex problems, and require advanced research skills.
  • Creating and implementing public affairs programming, social media and communications outreach, and off-site program management.
  • This position is also responsible for continuing to grow the research, communications, and networking synergies between NDISC and its technical and funding partnerships. One benchmark for this duty is successfully completing the Koch Associate Program which is a career accelerator for early to mid-career professionals with a drive to tackle our country's most pressing challenges in more effective, principled ways.
A preferred candidate has been identified
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Training in qualitative and statistical techniques employed in randomized evaluations
  • Statistical programming experience required (STATA, R, SAS)
  • Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple demands simultaneously
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-directed, with willingness to take initiative over project tasks and explore potential evaluations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working for academic researchers as a research assistant is preferred
  • Experience working for or with political scientists is preferred
