The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Communications Program Director, School of Architecture.

As part of the leadership of the School of Architecture, the Communications Program Director position oversees the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy for the School. Notre Dame's architecture curriculum is unique in its focus on traditional architecture and urbanism, and in its dedication to principles that encourage community, a sense of place and a built environment designed at a human scale. The School offers academic degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate level, with the unique experience of required curriculum taught in Rome.
Working with the senior leadership of the School, the Communications Program Director develops strategies that integrate print, digital, and media relations initiatives to enhance the reputation of the School among its key constituencies (architecture critics and the media, deans of schools of architecture and professionals, politicians and developers, alumni and prospective students, and the University). The Program Director writes content, manages the creation of print and electronic publications, creates a comprehensive social media plan, and markets faculty research.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Communications Strategy: Working closely with the Francis & Kathleen Rooney Dean, the Program Director develops and implements a communications strategy to enhance the reputation of the School among its key constituencies. The Program Director writes content, manages the creation of print and electronic publications, creates a comprehensive social media plan, and markets faculty research. (15%)
  • Writing: Writes, edits, and manages the production of communications materials, including press releases, feature stories, website content, social media, event marketing, and other outreach pieces. (25%)
  • Communications: Communicate to key audiences that support the advancement of the School's strategic plan. Oversee the process of maintaining and updating content on the School's websites and social media channels as as well as the electronic newsletter and periodic communications supporting publicity efforts, career services, graduate student recruitment, alumni, development and community and professional outreach. (25%)
  • Promotion: Assist School leadership in the development and promotion of key events throughout the year including architectural prizes ,alumni events, academic conferences, commencement and the School lecture series. Manage content distribution for periodic publications including conference proceedings and special projects as well as the School's annual academic journal (ANTA.) Oversee all marketing and outreach activities within the School. (20%)
  • Media Relations: Develop a robust media relations plan in support of School of Architecture goals, including working with outside consultants as well as the media relations team within Notre Dame's central Office of Marketing and Communications to unearth newsworthy stories, identify key media and building relationships, identifying and coordinating all public relations opportunities. (15%)
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelors degree
  • Experience: 7 or more years
  • Degree Required: Degree in communications, marketing or related field of study
Experience/Skill Required:
  • Excellent communication, writing and design skills
  • Project management in website development, redesign and content strategy
  • Working knowledge of current communication channels and trends
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-disciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Background or interest in architecture or related arts International exposure
