Associate Director, Building Inclusive Growth (BIG) Lab
University of Notre Dame
The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Associate Director, Building Inclusive Growth (BIG) Lab.
Applications will be accepted until 9/24/2022.
The Building Inclusive Growth (BIG) Lab is a recently founded research initiative with the mission of promoting policy-relevant research to foster inclusive economic growth in poor countries. Global poverty, including the myriad economic, political, and social issues that it creates, is one of the greatest challenges of our times. Inclusive economic growth in low-income countries is the most powerful way to reduce global poverty and ensure that the benefits are widely shared. The unique role of the BIG Lab is to foster research on how to best promote inclusive growth.
With funding from a recent generous gift and the Kellogg Institute, the BIG Lab is a dynamic new opportunity with high growth potential. The Associate Director will play a critical role in building and developing infrastructure for the Lab and ensuring the success of the Lab's work.
The BIG Lab's Associate Director should be a person with entrepreneurial spirit and energy to:
Champion the BIG Lab's vision: why it's unique and why the mission is integral in the fight against global poverty. Communicate the BIG Lab's work to a diverse spectrum of stakeholders, including funders, policymakers, and the academic community. Grow and manage a budget and team responsible for research, operations, fundraising, and administration. Launch the BIG Lab's pursuit of its strategic goals, and help drive its strategy going forward.
This is a 5-year limited-term position with the possibility of extending contingent upon funding availability.
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree or Bachelors degree and equivalent experience
Communication: Advanced writing and presentation skills for communicating research findings in ways that service providers, policymakers, and potential benefactors understand. This requires clear, precise, non-technical writing, and confident, effective public speaking skills.
Strong management skills: Experience hiring, training, and managing employees. Ability to manage multiple projects and both internal and external stakeholders. Strong accounting and budget management skills. High level of self-motivation with skill in working under tight timelines. Must be an excellent team player.
A strong commitment to the mission of both the BIG Lab and the University is necessary.
Willingness to travel to meet with service providers, funders, policymakers, and members of our team.
Preferred Qualifications:
An MBA, MPP, or similar degree is preferred (Ph.D. with management experience possible) with eight to ten or more years of work experience strongly preferred.
An interest and experience in low-income countries are preferred.
Non-profit experience is a plus.
