General Description
The purpose of this position is to provide high school students, 9th through 12th grade, with quality instruction to ensure the development of beneficial skills and content knowledge necessary for post-secondary success.
This includes, but is not limited to, content knowledge pertaining to rigorous academic subjects such as math, science, English, history, and foreign languages.
Rate of Pay :
Academic Year : $150 per academic session, up to 16 evening sessions throughout the school year
Summer Component : $225 per 2-hour class, per class
Essential Job Duties 1. Create student-centered lesson plans that foster critical thinking, collaboration, and / or subject mastery.
2. Share lesson plans and learning objectives with the Upward Bound Academic Coordinator as
requested.
3. Deliver rigorous lessons aligned with state standards and program learning objectives.
4. Incorporate various teaching methods, activities, and resources to cater to diverse learning styles.
5. Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages intellectual curiosity and academic growth.
6. Encourage student participation and engagement through class discussions and debates.
7. Regularly communicate with Upward Bound staff regarding student progress, goals, and academic performance.
9. Conduct formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
10. Provide constructive feedback to students to enhance their understanding and academic performance.
11. Participate in meetings focused on continually improving the experience of program participants. Additional Duties Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and Upward

Applicants must be dependable with a genuine interest in helping first-generation, low income
students
Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
Experience teaching in a college preparatory program or working with high school students in a
similar capacity preferred. Licenses, Certification or Registrations Valid teaching certification in the relevant subject areas.
