Position Summary
The Pharmacy Technician 1 is accountable for assisting pharmacists in the retrieval, processing, preparation and distribution of medications for patient administration. These activities include but are not limited to: (1) patient specific medications; (2) floor stock pharmaceuticals; (3) controlled substances; (4) and other defined systems. Pharmacy Technician 1 encompasses Pharmacy Technicians working in the retail environment. All assigned activities are performed under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager.
Essential Functions
Accurate preparation of patient medications
Accurate and timely delivery of patient specific medications
Inventories, replenishes, and maintains drug stock
Assist the Pharmacist with medication/patient care related issues
Required For All Jobs
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications: Qualifications Education
High School Equivalent / GED Required and
Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician or the UH pharmacy technician trainee program Required
Work Experience
Prior experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or community setting Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Understanding of metric system and basic math concepts 02is Required
Good communication skills are essential. Required
Personal computer, Pharmacy computer systems, calculators, facsimile machines. Required
Licenses and Certifications
Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) in the State of Ohio Required
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) in the State of Ohio Preferred
