POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides competent technical skills in the operation of equipment used to record electroencephalograms.Provides quality electroencephalographic examinations and ensures proper care and operation of equipment used. Provides long-term monitoring for epilepsy. Perform other neurodiagnostic specialized procedures including Positron Emission Topography (PET) scans, Interoperative Monitoring and Intracarotid Sodium Amobarbital Procedure (ISAP, or WADA), Electrocorticography (ECOG) and basic archiving of routine and STAT procedures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
-High school diploma or equivalent is required.
-Completion of an accredited electroneurodiagnostic (END) school or a military END training program (preferred), or
-A minimum of one (1) year experience independently performing EEG procedures in a hospital or clinical setting is required if employee is a new hire; or,
-Six (6) months’ experience working as an EEG Tech I and completion of Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) competency assessment(s) and the ability to work independently in the EMU is required.
