University Health Services, Inc. is Hiring a Physical Therapist (Full Time) Near Augusta, GA

Responsibilities

Provides delivery of quality physical therapy services to patients according to physician's order, applicable state licensure requirements and regulatory guidelines. Delegates and supervises the provision of cross-trainable care within scope of licensure. Documents care provided in EPIC on a daily basis, maintaining compliance with professional requirements, governmental/insurance regulations, and organizational/departmental guidelines. Enters daily treatment charges accurately using computer system. Coordinates care with other services/departments to provide total patient care throughout the continuum. Assists customers in meeting their needs. Serves as a team member on a specialty care team and/or on an interdisciplinary care team as assigned. Assists with improvement, development and promotion of services. Accountability is measured through direct observation, productivity reports, customer service reports, participation in committee, quality improvement and patient safety activities, Care Line/QARM reports, quality outcomes, financial outcomes, chart audits, competency check offs, and peer review. Demonstrates population-specific competencies (e.g. age-specific, cultural sensitivity, patient-centered communication) in performance of role.

Qualifications

EducationMust hold a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate degree from an accredited program of physical therapy.Licensure/CertificationMust hold a current license for the practice of physical therapy from the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy. BLS required or obtained within 60 days from date of hire.ExperienceNew graduate.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesWork requires a knowledge of physical therapy modalities and procedures as applicable for treating patients of all ages with various disabilities. Must have a high level of interpersonal skills in order to communicate verbally and in writing with patients, physicians, visitors, co-workers and other hospital personnel. Must have high level of analytical ability necessary to assess patient needs,interpret data, develop treatment programs, develop tasks appropriately and organize and prioritize daily treatments while utilizing supportive personnel. Must have a basic knowledge of management skills sufficient to effectively supervise support personnel and to effectively problem solve and resolve conflict. Must have knowledge of safety and current infection control policies and procedures at UH. Work requires one to six months orientation to acquire necessary familiarity with area specific policies, procedures, principles and methods of treatment compatible with departmental philosophy. Work requires the ability to handle a variety of duties which may be interrupted and changed by immediate circumstances which may produce a high level of stress and mental fatigue. Evaluation skills adequate to evaluate patient response to care and take appropriate action. Ability to think critically and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities. Computer skills are required in order to utilize and electronic medical record. Ability to perform efficiently and effectively under stress.Physical DemandsStanding for long periods of time (8 to 12 hours) Walking for long periods of time (8 to 12 hours) to include moving about the work area, hospital and/or campus as needed Sitting for extended periods (8 to 12 hours) Must be able to bend, stoop and reach/lift above your head Sight: must be able to read documentation in a variety of formats such as items in print or electronically. For Health Care Providers (HCP) must be able to visualize patient condition and see data displayed on monitoring devices, etc. Auditory: must be able to hear in order to clearly communicate with others and use communication devices such as telephones, must be able to hear patients, alarms, call bells, etc. Tactile: must have ability to handle equipment and/or devices related to job duties, enter documentation within computer system. For HCP must be able to feel for pulses, skin temperature, and other patient conditions Olfactory: HCP need to be able to smell disease-specific smells HCP should not manually lift (including transfer, reposition, or move) patients who weigh greater than 35 pounds. The appropriate safe patient handling device will be used, except in emergency situations (life or death situations where delay in obtaining and using the safe patient handling equipment may be detrimental to the patient). Refer to Policy/Procedure G-89 Proper body mechanics will be used when moving or lifting any equipment or supplies
