Position Summary
Personal Counseling attempts to strengthen students’ self-esteem, to attain a deepened awareness of their potentials and limitations, and to make use of their intellectual and personal resources enabling them to reach their full potential as integrated persons consistent with the university’s mission. Student Wellness is a holistic presentation of services, resources, and skills to allow students to maximize their student experience, while maintaining balance, growth and development as individuals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree (M.A.) in Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Counseling or related clinical area; five or more years of related experience.
Demonstrated high degree of sensitivity, understanding, ability, knowledge, and experience working with students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working with college students and an awareness of developmental perspective is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience and ability to give group presentations. Demonstrated excellence in organizational skill set, including attention to detail and thorough record-keeping ability.
Physical Requirements
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
Work Environment
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
Licenses/Certifications
Must currently possess full licensure or be on track to obtain full licensure for practice in the State of Michigan. Preference will be given to candidates with current licensure.
Salary/Pay Information
Commensurate with experience

Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
