Responsibilities Join our SWHS Team of Professionals! SWHS consists of two acute-care hospitals: Inland Valley Medical Center and Rancho Springs Medical Center. Inland Valley Medical Center A 122 bed acute care hospital which features the regions only Level II Trauma Unit and is the county-designated Paramedical Base station and Southwest Riverside County’s only Center of Excellence in Weight Loss Surgery. Rancho Springs Medical Center A 120 bed acute care hospital which includes the region’s largest birthing center along with the area’s only NICU in combination with Rady Children’s Hospital and the region’s first da Vinci Robotic Surgical Program. As a staff member providing clinical expertise you will be responsible for providing excellence in patient care, collaborative and comprehensive care based on patient and/or family needs, and quality and efficient services. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS Ø Knowledge and understanding of Environmental Services standards, procedures, and functions. Ø Has basic math skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and is able to read and write in English. Ø Ability to interact with patients, visitors, and all levels of hospital employees in an appropriate manner. Ø Good to excellent communication skills. Must have ability to interpret and communicate/read/understand in English in written and verbal material. Ø Availability to work variable hours and variable schedules including weekends and Holidays. Ø Familiar with required safety/testing procedures. Ø Oversees and implements diversity specific safety plans and implements accident prevention/safety measures. Ø Knowledge and understanding of cleaning procedures. Ø Understands and practices good body mechanics. Ø Understands proper handling of bio-hazardous waste and chemicals. Ø Understands and practices infection control and isolation procedures. Ø Demonstrates an awareness and implementation of National Patient Safety Goals as applicable in their area of practice. Ø Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide floor care maintenance, knowledge of equipment and products 2. MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE Ø Minimum of three years’ experience in a lead/supervisory position. Ø Housekeeping experience required. Ø Knowledge of cleaning procedures, record keeping, adjustment, and maintenance of power equipment. Ø Hospital work experience preferred. 3. MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EDUCATION Ø High School Diploma or equivalent required. Ø Vocational trade school training or on-the-job training to become familiar with all hospital duties and to acquire working knowledge of procedure in housekeeping preferred. 4. REQUIRED LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS Ø None 5. WORK ENVIRONMENT Ø Aptitudes: Verbal ability is necessary to discuss assignments with workers and Supervisors, to train new workers, and to demonstrate new techniques and equipment. Ø Numerical ability is necessary to measure ingredients, to learn dilution rations, and count out supply items. Ø Must have the physical ability to seize, hold, grasp, and turn with use of hands, reach and extend hands, and arms in any direction. Ø Needs the physical ability to lift at least 50 lbs. (10%) and/or to move loaded carts and equipment within the department. Ø Must possess ability to finger pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers. Ø The ability to perform daily standing, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and stretching operations used in department procedures (6-7 hours per day). Ø Ability to climb step stools, stairs, and ladders and to work while using elevation devices. Ø Ability to hear oral communication and hear and distinguish audible sounds. Ø Ability to read and comprehend instructions written in English. Ø Ability to see work areas. Ø Ability to see and distinguish colors. Ø Ability to smell and distinguish smells.
