Duties /Responsibilities
§ Visually inspects production fixtures, spreader bars, lift tables, dumpers, spinners, hoists, chains, and hooks to insure proper repair, and baskets for productivity and safety.
§ Utilizes an air wand and other methods to blow off the zinc needles and remove excess zinc.
§ Confers with supervisors to report material conditions that could result in production, quality and safety issues.
§ Operates hoist to lift materials out of zinc kettle.
§ Inspects materials for runs, for sags, for drips, for bare areas, for holes, smothered spots, etc.
§ Moves material to and from storage and production areas, loads docks & delivery vehicles by forklift, hand and other equipment when properly trained to do so.
§ Receives written or oral instructions for work assignments.
§ Determines applicable material and equipment needs.
§ Attaches tags to material and/or marks them with pertinent information.
§ Hangs/takes down racks of material using specific training methods.
§ Performs general housekeeping duties such as sweeping and picking up discarded material.
§ Cleans material as specified by the customer.
§ Reports material conditions that could result in production or customer problems to lead and/or supervisor.
§ Assists in proper loading of customer material
§ Tracks all orders.
§ Counts, marks, tags all order specs including parts, customers and job numbers.
§ Stacks parts using pallets, dunnage, shrink wrap and banding materials as necessary.
§ Weights all completed jobs and/or parts.
§ Maintains a clean kettle for maximum production that meets quality standards.
§ Skims ash from the top of the kettle during the galvanizing process to remove residue.
§ Scoops the bottom of the kettle after product galvanization to remove contamination/residue that has settled.
§ Observes entire process to confirm adherence to plant standards that result in high quality end products.
§ Removes basket from kettle after basket is cooked off and skimmed.
§ Moves basket into spinner shield, ensures everyone is clear and spins material for approximately 5 seconds.
§ Stops basket from spinning, moves basket to dumper and unhook using shovel. DO NOT USE FINGERS!
§ Returns to kettle hooking next basket and pulling rod from basket to repeat the spinning process.
§ Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
§ Assists in general housekeeping, including emptying mud pans, pumping pits and blowing down the boiler.
§ Performs other duties as assigned
Safety Responsibilities/Expectations
§ Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
§ Wears required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
§ Uses all PPE properly for its intended purpose.
§ Inspects all equipment for wear/tear including any thinning or cracks of chains and report issues to your supervisor, the plant manager, and/or officer manager immediately.
§ Follows all safety rules outlined in safety manual or discussed during orientation and meetings.
§ Reminds co-workers of safety rules and PPE requirements when they are not adhering to the requirements.
§ Reports safety violations to supervisor, plant manager, and/or office manager immediately.
