Collaborates with nursing leadership and education professionals to organize, implement and evaluate education programs (orientation, in-services, competencies, classroom, etc.) at the unit level to facilitate skill development, competency and proficiency of standards of care for the staff.

• Plan, organize and facilitate clinical orientation for new team members – will keep program up to date, restructuring as needed, follow up with new team members to ensure competency is met, schedule new team members into required classes, maintain records for new team member’s education.
• Mentors less experience team members, guides professional behaviors while adhering to the policies and procedures of the organization, demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
• Plan, organize, facilitate ongoing education and competency for team members – will assess educational needs of the team, assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of in-services, educational offerings and competency by using formal and informal teaching methods.
• Education and training of new equipment.
• Collaborates with nursing leadership to support implementation of evidenced based practice into the department setting.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or currently enrolled in RN to BSN program with completion within 2 years of hire date. Masters of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ RN experience. Minimum of 3 years’ RN experience preferred.
• Iowa Registered Nurse license.
• Must obtain Basic Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program within one year of hire.
• Certification in high risk Neonatal nursing (Registered Nurse, Certified-Nursing Interventions Classification) within 2 years of hire.
• Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
• Basic computer knowledge using work processing, spreadsheet, email and web browser.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently with little oversight.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Manage priorities and deadlines.
