OverviewPublic Health Program Director/Associate Professor - Bachelor of Public HealthUnityPoint Health - Allen CollegeFull-timeBenefits EligibleAllen College is seeking candidates for a full-time faculty and program director beginning immediately in the Bachelor of Science in Public Health Program. The faculty member shall hold an academic faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor at Allen College consistent with his/her education, experience, and qualifications of the rank. The faculty is a member of the Faculty Organization Committee at large and appointed to other faculty committees; is involved in the development and evaluation of the program and students enrolled; is actively involved in teaching in the classroom and/or clinical; provides guidance and academic advising of students at Allen College; and is supervised by the School’s Dean. The program director, under the supervision of the School’s Dean, shall take a leadership role in the organization, review, and ongoing development of the public health program. S/he participates in budget planning and in planning of materials and human resources for the program and oversees curriculum review and revision to ensure that the academic program’s curriculum is consistent with applicable accreditation guidelines and changes occurring in professional practice.
In compliance with the Clery Act, Allen College publishes an Annual Security report containing three previous years of crime statistics, institutional policies concerning campus safety, and a fire safety report. Responsibilities
  • Assumes leadership role in program development, accreditation, implementation, evaluation, and revision to assure program effectiveness.
  • Participates in budget planning and monitors program budget.
  • Assists in the recruitment, selection, development, and evaluation of students and faculty.
  • Plans, develops, monitors, and evaluates curriculum to maintain congruency with college and program conceptual frameworks and accreditation standards.
  • Develops, coordinates, and provides a supportive and communication network with clinical sites, preceptors, adjunct faculty, and clinical instructors.
  • Assumes didactic, laboratory and clinical teaching responsibilities as assigned.
  • Participates in college and program activities that contribute to educational quality.
  • Engages in activities to ensure professional competency and to promote effective teaching.
  • Provides professional expertise to the department, college, profession, and community to enhance the image of the academic program and college.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the School’s Dean or the President.
  • Participates in the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of individual courses and the overall curriculum within the College.
  • Participates in faculty development, governance, and College decision making.
  • Participates in faculty organization committees.
  • Promotes and maintains collaborative relationships between College and clinical agencies.
  • Teaching:
  • Classroom and clinical preparation, instruction, supervision, and evaluation.
  • Coordination and supervision of students' clinical experiences consistent with established standards of care and course/program objectives.
  • Other activities directly related to the academic program.
  • Serves as academic advisor for students.
  • Participates in professional activity and community service.
  • Participates in scholarly activities (may include the following):
  • On-going study and research to develop expertise and maintain proficiency and growth in one's field of professional specialization.
  • Writing, editing, reviewing texts and articles.
  • Serving as a consultant in the profession.
  • Attendance and participation in meetings, conferences, and conventions of professional associations.
  • Participates in the coordination, advisement, and supervision of student organization and other activities of the College not related to academics.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the mission, vision, goals, and values of Allen College and adheres to College policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health FOCUS Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Works effectively with the daily mental and physical stresses of the job which includes, but not limited to meeting deadlines, attending meetings, completing compliance requirements, meeting and working with staff, faculty, students and the public.
Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in public health or related field is required.
  • A minimum of two-three years of teaching experience in the program discipline. Those with teaching experience that is less than this requirement will be considered as follows: two years teaching/clinical experience = one year credit of baccalaureate level teaching.
  • Demonstrated competency in practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to do scholarly work appropriate to the individual’s field.
  • Evidence of involvement in professional activity and community service.
