The Patient Service Coordinator serves as a member of the healthcare team as an organized, efficient colleague with expertise communicating to customers, family members, physicians, providers and healthcare team members. Responsibilities
  • Greets all patients, families, physicians and staff that present to the unit, and answers the phone with a welcoming attitude and ascertains their needs.
  • Communicates and coordinates any unresolved patient/family issues promptly to unit leadership.
  • Answers the patients’ needs directly.
  • Reports needs promptly to proper authority including physicians.
  • Assists in scheduling follow-up and healthcare team appointments for patients.
  • Makes guest relation rounds twice daily for any immediate needs of family or staff, ex. – blankets, water, coffee etc.
  • Serves as a resource for patients and patients’ families needing direction or information.
  • Makes sure the dietary lounge is stocked for families’ needs and makes coffee.
  • Enters charges per unit need.
  • Works with manager to improve patient services.
  • Verifies daily that all paper forms are stickered and in the correct chart.
  • Verifies that each chart has a face sheet and stickers for the day’s work.
  • Verifies that discharged patients charts are complete and stickered
  • Enters staff into the Vocera website and keeps it updated throughout the shift.
  • Communicates with the charge nurse to comply with the bed ahead concept.
  • Organizes and makes sure there are adequate supplies ordered and notifies the manager of additional needs.
  • Incoming supplies are maintained in a neat area and items are put away.
  • Make copies of any forms needed for use on the unit.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years secretarial or comparable work experience or equivalent education.
  • Internal applicants within Allen, with 2 years of demonstrated and documented experience of exceeding the performance expectations in patient care and living our values, may be considered.
  • Health Care experience preferred.
  • Customer Service experience preferred.
  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Excellent telephone manner, respect for confidentiality.
  • Ability to work for a large multitude of the management team and physicians.
  • Demonstrates ability to work on several projects simultaneously, function effectively with disruptions and work independently.
