UnityPoint Health is Hiring a Manager RN-Outpatient Infusion Center Near Rapids, IA

Overview

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the care provided on the patient care department(s), which is consistent with the established strategic plan, goals and objectives for Patient Care Services. The Nurse Manager is responsible for management of the patient care department. The Nurse Manager supports optimal care that requires specialized knowledge, critical thinking and skills based on principles of psychological, social, physical, and biological sciences that utilize the nursing process. The Nurse Manager demonstrates the attributes of servant leadership, communicates exceptionally, and motivates others to achieve outcomes through work with multidisciplinary teams. This person serves as chief recruitment and retention officer for department and works in collaboration with nursing leadership to identify areas of improvement regarding practice, policies and processes.

Responsibilities

Leadership

· Builds trusting, collaborative relationships with staff, peers, physicians and administration to advance the core patient business strategy.

· Fosters development of unit leadership team.

· Responsible for department scheduling.

· Applies HR practices fairly and consistently.

· Ensures a thorough and adequate orientation program for new staff and student interns.

· Ensures the adequate competency training and continuing education programming is done to meet identified staff development needs.

· Supports department and hospital shared governance infrastructure and staff engagement.

· Supports continuous staff development and career goal achievement.

· Commits to the hours needed to achieve outcomes and develop others to assure round-the-clock leadership. Requires flexibility with hours worked and shifting priorities as the environment changes, without losing sight of goals/outcomes.

· Hardwires patient rounding to assure consistent contact with patients.

· Follows-up on patient concerns as soon as possible.

· Notifies Director and/or Administration of concerns that have the potential to escalate or lead to Risk Management concerns.

· May be requested to travel to conferences and meetings as a hospital representative. Must be able to make arrangements to attend these as required.

Patient Care

· Assumes primary responsibility for the plan of care for a patient or group of patients, per unit standards and nursing care required for the specified patient population.

· Delegates tasks and responsibilities to other health care team members and assumes responsibility for follow-up and collaboration Assumes responsibility for developing a plan of care that is mutually established with the patient and family. Each patient is treated as an individual, with their identified goals and expectations reviewed each shift to verify priorities.

· Implements the plan of care according to current standards of nursing practice, evidence-based practice, and hospital protocol/procedures.

· Integrates multidisciplinary approach to maintain comfort, support human functions and responses, and maintain an environment conductive to safety and well-being. Implements measures to promote a safe environment.

· Partners with healthcare team to achieve the patient care outcomes and goals of care.

· Administers medications and nursing treatments within scope of practice.

· Requires call shifts and as scheduled with weekend coverage per department staffing needs.

Professional Development of Team Members

· Supports a thorough and adequate orientation program for new staff and student interns.

· Supports the adequate competency training and continuing education programming is done to meet identified staff development needs. Will include hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis team members.

· Supports department and hospital shared governance infrastructure and staff engagement.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria

· Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.

· Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.

· Maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.

· Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.

· Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.

· Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Preferred or Specialized

Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.

· Successful completion of an accredited nursing program

· BSN

· MSN preferred

· Three to five years of clinical leadership with recognized knowledge and expertise in caring for specific patient populations

· Possess current RN licensure in the State of Iowa

· Maintain current BLS certification

· Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons

·

· OCN

· CRNI

· Nursing Leadership Certification preferred

· Writes, reads, speaks, and comprehends fluent English

· Ability to direct others and to exercise judgment in problem-solving scenarios

· Ability to lead and/or participate in multidisciplinary teams

· Possess a comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practice and an expanded knowledge of current clinical and specialized patient care concepts.

· Possess a broad and varied knowledge base that is continually enhanced through self-directed study and participation in educational opportunities.

· Possess knowledge of performance improvement and quality standards.

· Possess knowledge of The Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.

· Ability to complete basic computer course through in-hospital training; develops and maintains necessary computer skills including Word and Excel.

Possess knowledge of CMS regulations

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
