Day shift/ Rotating on call for PACS for UPH system

The Imaging Systems Analyst Manager is responsible for the management of daily Imaging Systems maintenance, education and training, image quality review, and technical support of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), HIS/RIS (EPIC/Radiant), Physician dictation systems, MRS software programs and imaging equipment interfaces. In addition, integrates RIS with PACS, coordinates system downtimes, and workflow improvements relating to these systems. Provides end users with product and technical support. Evaluates and tests the PACS hardware and software programs. Assists in the evaluation and testing of the HIS/RIS hardware and software programs. Provides minor repairs to hardware and software. The Imaging Systems Analyst Manager shall provide the technical knowledge, expertise and professional judgment required to support the mission and goal of UnityPoint Health St. Luke’s.

Responsibilities

Communication and Interaction

  • Demonstrates & holds others accountable for professional conduct towards staff, patients and visitors and maintains privacy of the patients, their test results and records.
  • Maintains communication with Imaging Administration, staff and physicians in a professional manner. Excellent verbal & written communication with Imaging Administration & customers regarding changes/projects progress/issues. Seeks the advice of the Radiology Manager with problems before implementing a solution.
  • Maintains sufficient system supplies – ensuring compliance with UPH system initiatives & changes. Monitors waste & implements changes accordingly
  • Promotes & exhibits a positive public relations image through productive and professional interactions with nurses, physicians, visitors, patients, peers, supervisors, and other hospital personnel.
  • Facilitates learning environment for Imaging staff, students, physicians and new hires through in-service instruction and clinical situations. Must have the ability to communicate training to learners of varying skill levels. Must be able to recognize these differences, and communicate training according to the learner. This includes any staff or physicians utilizing UPH systems for which the Systems Manager is responsible
  • Establishes and ensures that new staff have completed competency testing, new hire orientation
  • Actively participates & leads Departmental PI projects; including but not limited to, Press Ganey scores, Employee Relations, Policy Development, workflow improvements etc.
  • Development of leadership role by attending daily huddles, various departmental, Administrative Meetings & educational opportunities. Commitment to Administrative Changes both within the hospital and the Department
  • Actively participate and encourage staff development & education.
  • Positively Adapts to change, is open to new ideas, takes on new responsibilities, and adjusts plans to meet changing needs. Portrays positive attitude to staff regarding system/departmental changes
  • Ensures & monitors customer satisfaction, sets realistic customer expectations, solves customer problems, meets commitments to customers, seeks out customer input, responds to internal customers.
  • Has good listening skills, builds strong relationships, is flexible/open minded, solicits performance feedback and handles constructive criticism. Builds strong communication lines with staff by daily rounding for issues & feedback
  • Works well in groups, helps resolve conflicts, facilitates various meetings, works well with other departments, is flexible and open-minded, and focuses team on strategies and goals. Goal development through PI projects
  • Provides system Enterprise UPH Call coverage as assigned

Equipment and Regulatory Management

  • Maintains Imaging information systems and prepares all documentation necessary to ensure accurate and consistent information workflows. Recognizes potential issues within these systems and pro-actively works to test solutions, prevent interruptions, correct errors. Coordinates systems upgrades, product testing, interface connectivity, implementation of projects; both at a local & system level
  • Participates in annual budget development and contributes to the identification of cost reduction measures or revenue enhancing opportunities relating to Imaging Systems Interfaces
  • Performs care and light maintenance of IT Systems equipment/computers. This includes testing and inspection (quality assurance) of the equipment for accurate usage, performance and can assess equipment problems. Coordinates & monitors equipment for QA issues as warranted.
  • Maintains knowledge & actively participates in updating of current department policies and equipment relating to Imaging Interfacing systems.
  • Works closely with Modality Leaders regarding any system needs for ACR, FDA, MSQA and State Accreditations or equipment updates

Quality and Procedure Management

  • Maintains all aspects of Imaging Interfacing systems to ensure the Radiologists have high quality imaging with precision, accuracy, and in a timely manner for the Radiologist to interpret.
  • Is attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence, looks for improvements continuously, monitors quality levels, finds root cause of interfacing/networking problems, owns/acts on quality problems. Implements solutions as warranted.
  • Proactively anticipates, prevents or tackles problems and takes independent action. Generates solutions, researches alternative solutions, and looks for workflow improvements. Leads implementation of process changes & follow up as appropriate
  • Seeks out new responsibilities, acts on opportunities, generates new ideas, and practices self-development.
  • Adheres & holds staff accountable to hospital & departmental safety regulations, guidelines, policies, procedures, & protocols. Especially those relating to HIPA compliance within the Imaging Systems
  • Works with Compliance Officer to provide any audit information that is requested
  • Responsible for monitoring Imaging Systems for QA (including but not limited to: data entry errors, patient information correction, correlation of outside images, interface errors, mammography radiologist review stations, dictation errors, data retrieval for analytics as needed.)

  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
Qualifications

Education:

  • 2 years Associates degree in Computer Science or 2 years experience as Computer Systems Manager or 2 years as a Radiology Data Coordinator
  • Bachelor Degree Preferred
  • Medical Terminology-Preferred

Experience:

  • 2 years’ of working experience in a Computer System related field
  • Systems Selection, System Implementation or Training; Computer Systems Manager - Preferred

License(s)/Certification(s):

· Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Computer Skills relating to various EMR & Radiology Imaging Systems, MRS-Mammography Reporting System,
  • State/Federal & Regulatory Knowledge,

· Machines: RIS (Radiology Applications), EMR, PACS, Various office equipment (including but not limited to fax, copier, scanner, digitizer, CD Burner), Telephone skills, MRS software for Mammography reporting.

  • Administrative: The Imaging Systems Analyst Manager shall demonstrate a working knowledge of technical IT/Computer interfacing skills to perform a variety of system maintenance. He/she must maintain knowledge of current department Imaging systems; assist the radiologists/staff in daily activities or trouble shooting. Superior interface/systems knowledge RIS/EMR/MRS/PACS/Dictation Systems to ensure all systems are functioning as intended. Training new and student radiographers; staff; physicians. Perform other assigned duties as requested. He/she must be able to concentrate on the task at hand, but handle multiple interruptions and rapidly changing priorities. Must demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, cooperation, and maintain an attitude of professionalism, strictly adhere to all hospital and departmental safety regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures.
