Overview

Provides direct patient care and both clerical/clinical duties for patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse to include Physical Capacity Profile (PCP®) testing services. Supports patients during procedures. Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence/Patient Care

·Answers questions and provides information to patients/clients, third party payers and other health care personnel as instructed.

·Documents appropriate information in the patient’s chart; completes patient forms.

·Files correspondence and medical records, including progress notes, diagnostic information, professional correspondence and x-rays.

·Measure and record patient’s statistical data and medical history at the request of the provider.

·Assists with simple and complex procedures; i.e., specimen collections, application of splints, measuring crutches, application of ice pack, removal of dressings, procedure prep

·Takes and records vital signs, height and weight

·Performs vision exam and color vision exam

·Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

·Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.

·Integrates and demonstrates FOCUS values to guide professional behaviors, while adhering to the policies and procedures UPHDM.

·Practice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DNV, OSHA, DOT, and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding occupational medicine and healthcare.

·Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule.

Key Accountability

·Handles emergencies as necessary under direction of nursing personnel

·Instruct patients with special instructions given by the provider.

·Maintain inventory for clinical supplies.

·Handle emergencies, as necessary.

·Performs functions other than described due to extenuating circumstances.

·This position may be assigned a specific mission to address in an emergency situation to assist in disaster response and recovery as part of the UPH-DM Hospital Emergency Incident Command System.Situations of a critical nature may require an individual to perform multiple tasks until additional support can be obtained.

·Completes all education/training modules as required by supervisor via Net Learning.

·Assume responsibility for own continued professional growth.

·Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of the supervisor/manager, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria

·Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position.

Preferred or Specialized

Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.

Education:

High school graduate or GED equivalent or actively pursuing HS diploma or GED.

Graduate of 75-hour course for certified Nursing Assistants from an accredited school; or graduate of 150 hours certification; or nursing students that have successfully completed one nursing clinical rotation. Must read, write and speak and comprehend fluent English.

Experience:

Minimum of one year hospital or clinic experience in patient care area.

Previous clinical experience preferred/desirable.

License(s)/Certification(s):

CNA Certification OR EMT-B OR

Currently enrolled in accredited nursing program with minimum completion of curriculum as defined by UPHDM Human Resources. Successfully complete American Heart Association BCLS course within one year or hire date.
