As a part of OptumCare, the largest network of medical groups in the nation, MedExpress is seeking a Full-time Independent Nurse Practitioner or Independent Physician Assistant to support our East Houston center with occasional coverage in Pasadena - 7 miles away.
Position Highlights:
- Open 8am - 8pm, 7 days per week
- Providers typically work 12 hour shifts
- Average patient load = 3-4 patients per hour
- Full licensed medical team and support staff
- Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Suturing (some facial)
- Splinting
- Initial interpretation with digital X-Rays
- Injections - (MA may not be available)
- STD’s
- Incisions and drainage
- Pediatric care
- Suturing (some facial)

Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant program
- Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the ANCC/AANP or certified as a Physician Assistant through the NCCPA
- Clinical experience working in at least one of the following:
- Emergency medicine - 1 year
- Urgent care - 1.5 years
- Family practice - 2 years
- Emergency medicine - 1 year
- Must have experience treating patients across multiple age groups
- Must have experience suturing, splinting, and reading x-rays within the last year
- Must be CPR certified (or willing to obtain prior to start)
- DOT certification (or ability to obtain within the first 60 days of employment)
- Willing and able to assist at other center locations in the area
