The senior managed care pharmacist will support national teams and care delivery organizations with identifying and implementing clinical value initiatives. Such initiatives will largely be related to industry relations, enterprise strategies and partnerships, and utilization management.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Reviews data and industry trends to identify new and relevant opportunities or initiatives
  • Facilitates implementation of value-based strategies up to and including imbedding in a local market (additional licenses may be required)
  • Demonstrates ability to work autonomously and takes ownership of projects/initiatives with minimal guidance/oversight
  • Creates provider and patient-facing material in support of clinical/affordability strategies
  • Supports various subcommittees through completion of pipeline drug impact reviews and development of policies and SOPs where needed
  • Provides pharmacist support and consultation to other teams or departments as projects may dictate
  • Partners with internal and external stakeholders as needed to support strategic business goals or priorities
  • Researches drug information to maintain drug knowledge and disease state understanding for application to initiatives and strategies
  • Provides support and education to national teams or provider groups upon request
  • Communicates readily and thoroughly with varied audiences, including senior leadership
  • Serves as a population health consultant providing targeted interventions where feasible
  • Provides coverage for part B drug therapy UM review through evaluation of benefits, medical necessity, affordability, site of service, and patient efficacy as needed
  • Stays up-to-date in order to serve as a subject matter expert in managed care
  • Provides training and mentorship for peers as applicable
  • Works independently to identify solutions to non-standard problems or tasks
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications: 

  • Completed a Managed Care PGY1 residency OR have 5 years of applicable managed care, PBM, industry, or care delivery experience working directly with front-line clinicians 
  • PharmD with Pharmacist License, Active and in good standing
  • Solid proficiency with Visio, SharePoint, MS Office Suite (including Excel) 
  • Have a dedicated workspace with access to high speed internet

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid prioritization, attention to detail, ability to manage/contribute to multiple simultaneous projects and workstreams, verbal/written communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to create an effective team environment, build strong relationships
  • Solid in solving problems and issues in a matrix environment and communicating effectively at all levels of an organization

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $104,700 to $190,400 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
