The Sr. Capability Manager is accountable for the adoption and benefit delivery of the Data, Analytics, and Reporting capability. Major responsibilities include engaging Optum products to understand their needs; then partnering with technology on designing and articulating how the capability can solve problems and deliver benefits. Works closely with the Health System Provider Enablement Product Leader to ensure business use cases and requirements are translated into functional requirements and are then built into the backlogs and prioritized in accordance with the capability roadmap. In addition, the Sr. Capability Manager will work to align Capability roadmaps across the Optum products within Provider Enablement.

The Sr. Capability Manager needs to be able to navigate the enterprise, build relationships, and gain a firm understanding of each business needs to be successful. They work closely with the Technical Product Manager and Release Train Engineer (RTE) to ensure capability needs are being delivered according to expectations. They own the business relationships, backlog prioritization, and overall capability roadmap. The Sr. Capability Manager is responsible and empowered with the authority to make decisions that impact the platform and does so in alignment with Optum product strategy and governance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage milestones related to the product lifecycle from concept through release, includes strategy, ideation, definition, build, operational readiness, launch and post-launch performance management and adoption
  • Conduct research and coordinate with subject matter experts to define capability process workflows and best practices
  • Define analytics strategy & requirements across 1) Consumer ID/Strat, 2) Client & operations reporting, and 3) Value measurement
  • Partner closely with product leadership to understand their needs and proactively develop solutions to meet their needs
  • Drive alignment and understanding of product imperatives and buy-in to associated capability needs across key product, operations, and technology business partners
  • Draft data and functional requirements and configuration rules for capability development with product team support; consult on technical requirements/user stories
  • Manage the relevant capability cost model and support pricing efforts in partnership with product stakeholders
  • Inform capital planning efforts (needs identification/stakeholder alignment, roadmap development, cost/benefit analysis, spend oversight); leverage these materials to create presentations that are leveraged for funding decisions.Demonstrate the value delivered with each release as well as the expected value within the backlog
  • Prioritize the deployment of the capability roadmap and backlog
  • Identify and resolve issues by working across product, operations, and technology partners
  • Drive capability adoption and change management work with Business partners to deliver on business implementation strategies. Engage Product & Operations to support alignment on capability vision
  • Partner with technology to provide innovative solutions design and capability architecture expertise and recommendations to solve complex product problems and issues. Act as SME and provide oversight on work to ensure we are not creating unnecessary, duplicative solutions
  • Understand customer needs and validate solutions - builds relationships with customers to deeply understand their needs to infuse Voice of Customer throughout the product lifecycle

Required Qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience working with technology delivery teams
  • 4 years of experience preparing and presenting to a variety of audiences at all levels
  • 3 years of capability (or product) management experience or comparable experience driving initiatives involving process and technology as an accountable owner
  • 2 years of experience designing operational and value dashboards
  • Experienced with Agile project methodology
  • Experienced in analysis of business processes and workflows, and providing evaluations, benchmarks, and/or process improvement recommendations
  • Healthcare Industry experience, especially in the ambulatory setting
  • MS Project, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agile Product Owner Certification
  • Experience working on end-to-end data integrity with various disparate data sources
  • Experience consolidating/aligning multiple population health identification/stratification capabilities
  • Experienced in analysis of business processes and workflows, and providing evaluations, benchmarks, and/or process improvement recommendations
  • Project Management experience
  • CA Agile (formerly known as Rally), Aha, or equivalent agile deployment technology

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $104,700 to $190,400 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
