United is Hiring a Maintenance Technician Fabricator (Carbon Green BioEnergy) Near Odessa, MI

Position Summary:

Technician is responsible for repairing and helping fabricate plant equipment and systems to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. Technician will work 8-hour shift schedule, 5 days a week and share a rotating weekly after hours on-call shift. They may also be utilized in the material handling grain departments as needed. This position requires a great deal of flexibility and the ability to adapt to change.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Maintain the plant maintenance program

  • Monitor the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary
  • Maintain and repair maintenance shop and plant equipment.
  • Help with computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations or solving maintenance related problems.
  • Have a good working knowledge of pump, valves, etc.
  • Monitor and repair plant pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

2. Monitor operation of plant equipment and systems

  • Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Carry out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Ensure city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.

3. Coordinate activities with other departments

  • Communicates directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas.
  • Communicates directly with QA laboratory to ensure effective participation by maintenance technicians in the implementation of QA policies and procedures.

4. Other

  • Follow plant policies, procedures and programs required to ensure plant safety and cleanliness.
  • Assist with implementing plant improvements and expansions.

5. Participates in safety, health and environmental programs

  • Know and understand city, county, state and federal regulations relating to process operations and work in a manner to ensure these regulations are met at all times.
  • Participate with plant safety programs: lock out tag out & confined space entry. Initiate and implement the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the ethanol industry, with an emphasis on preventive and predictive maintenance.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a two-year degree from a technical/vocational school, military background or 3 years’ work experience.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with computerized maintenance management system and instruct others on its operation.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have expertise and proficiency with basic office software.
  • Must have the ability to weld and fabricate. Welding experience must include MIG, TIG, and ARC. Stainless steel welding experience is a must. Pipe fitting experience preferred. Fabrication skills need to include structural steel fabrication, guard assembly, fabrication of catwalks, stairways, must be able to work off blueprints and also have the ability to come up with own bill of materials and plans.

Working Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions; must be able to climb ladders and work in high, precarious places; and outdoor weather conditions.
  • The employee may be occasionally exposed to high noise environments.
