Maintenance Technician Job Description

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the building, performing minor maintenance and repairs of heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems, operating and maintaining cleaning and maintenance equipment and machinery, maintaining grounds for a safe and neat appearance, reporting safety hazards in the building and on the grounds, and performing seasonal grounds keeping duties as needed. The Maintenance Technician will also be required to make regular security rounds and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Environmental Services.

Position Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years' experience in a similar role or specialized training in HVAC, Plumbing, and/or electric required.
• 18 years of age or older with a valid PA driver’s license required.
• Ability to read, write, and follow directions in English.
• Ability to carry/lift weights in the range of up to 40 pounds without assistance, 41 to 75 pounds with assistance, and weight in excess of 75 pounds with proper use of assistive equipment.
• Exposure to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold and heat, blood borne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g., working within close proximity to electrical current), chemical hazards, and respiratory hazards.

Skills and Responsibilities

• Housekeeping and building custodian, maintaining a neat and tidy appearance of the building, cleaning of carpeted and hard surface floors.
• Minor maintenance and repairs of heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Operate and maintain cleaning and maintenance equipment and machinery.
• Maintain grounds for safe and neat appearance.
• Report safety hazards in the building and on the grounds, documenting all hazards in accordance with Life Safety, the Department of Health, and any other regulatory requirements.
• Perform seasonal groundskeeping duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Environmental Services
