About us:

United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties is a local, non-profit organization, located in Zanesville, Ohio. We were chartered on September 16, 1954 and consist of a small staff and volunteers who work to support a broad range of agencies and programs in our communities. Although we are a part of the United Way international non-profit, each United Way is autonomous. We are governed by a local Board of Directors and decisions are made locally, in the best interest of our communities.

Job Description:

ACCOUNTABILITIES COMMON TO ALL UNITED WAY JOBS

Takes responsible independent initiative to timely complete the assigned work plan and other job requirements to expected performance standards, including making appropriate decisions, within the scope of authority, as is needed to implement the plan to performance standards.

Suggest additional priorities as may be necessary to accomplish the overall responsibilities of the position and develops and implements efficient and effective work methods needed to appropriately and timely accomplish plan, in so far as the work methods are compliant with the United Way’s policies and procedures.

Maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of job performance and keeps abreast of current trends and “best practices” in the field.

Performs job responsibilities and maintains all records in accordance with United Way policy, procedure and protocol, and applicable laws and regulations.

Keeps the Executive Director informed regarding progress toward completing job responsibilities and seeks guidance from the Executive Director regarding matters that need clarification or approval.

Assumes accountability for the results of the position, subject to the general oversight, direction and ultimate approval of the Executive Director as the Executive Director determines necessary.

Maintains confidentiality of donor information and other confidential and sensitive information relevant to the job.

Complies with United Way policy and practices.

Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance, and works outside of normal schedule as required.

DISTINGUISHING JOB CHARACTERISTICS

Coordinates campaign priorities and meets campaign goals. Organizes the annual campaign fundraising efforts, Major Gifts and Planned Giving, organizes special events, and constant campaign database maintenance in support of campaign goals. Implements annual marketing plan, including the production of marketing materials. Plays a key role in solidifying and cultivating relationships with leadership givers. Builds relationships and forms partnerships in Muskingum, Morgan and Perry Counties that enables United Way to increase our presence and further our mission in each of these areas.

Works weekends, early mornings and evenings as needed to perform job responsibilities.

Serves at the will of, and under the direction of the Executive Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Campaign

Implements the overall annual campaign fundraising plan. Arranges employee meetings and other special meetings to encourage participation in the annual campaign.

Trains and recruits campaign volunteers.

Implements plan to gain new workplace campaign prospects to increase campaign revenue.

Updates and records campaign data by using campaign software and reporting out to staff and board.

Implements the reinvigoration and growth of the Zane Grey Society.

Customer Service

Serves as United Way representative and relationship builder in Muskingum, Morgan & Perry Counties. Forms partnerships in those counties that will enable our United Way to increase our presence and further our mission.

Constant contact with past, current and future donors.

Serves as a source of information for co-workers and volunteers on major donor relations, Muskingum, Morgan & Perry Counties, and the mission of the United Way system.

Provides staff support to all United Way initiatives/functions/events such as campaign events, Advisory Board meetings, Policy Board meetings and any other activities that require additional support.

Major Gifts and Planned Giving

Implements and maintains all aspects of relationship/contact management for key donors, including database management, recognition materials, and oral and written communications.

Works closely with Campaign volunteers to foster Leadership Giving and Planned Giving within our company campaigns.

Public Relations

Plans presentations at community venues such as service club meetings, churches and professional societies to promote United Way, community impact and other resource development initiatives.

Develops a volunteer application and orientation process, and volunteer satisfaction survey. Plans for appropriate methods to recognize volunteers and assess their satisfaction and needs.

Events Coordination

Supports, organizes and/or coordinates special events and fundraisers that are identified and prioritized by Board Committees and Executive Director.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs other duties as assigned.

Multi-line telephone; computer; printer, and copier; and other general office equipment.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS

Partner agencies’ directors and staff; government agency representatives; business and community leaders and partners; Board members; donors; United Way volunteers; community members.

CONFIDENTIAL DATA

Donor records, credit card and checking account information.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Typically works in good conditions within a business office environment. May be exposed to work conditions at off-site agencies, businesses, or other community locations.

USUAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The following physical demands are typically exhibited by position incumbents performing this job’s essential duties and responsibilities. While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity and eye-hand coordination when performing typing and other tasks. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when typing and using a computer screen.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of: general office and clerical practices; community social service resources; and customer service interaction.

Ability to: develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, clients, and public; maintain excellent public relations as United Way representative; demonstrate ethical conduct and good character; maintain confidentiality of confidential and sensitive information; work independently with initiative; exhibit attention to detail; follow oral and written instruction.

Skill in the: application of office software programs; maintaining work records; arranging items in alphabetical, numerical and subject order; data entry; categorizing information; general typing and word processing; operating multiple telephone lines; counting and handling cash and checks.

QUALIFICATIONS

An appropriate combination of education, training, course work, and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

An example of an acceptable minimum qualification is: High School Degree, GED or equivalent with coursework or training in general office practices, typing and computer operations including proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.

Pay: $37,345.00 - $43,000.00 per year
