Job Description:

The Irrigation Technician is a challenging and fast-paced position. WHY - UVETS is committed to monitoring and forecasting water usage at our commercial properties. Water Management is one of our unique(s). We use cutting edge, state of the art technology to better monitor and maintain the system. As a result, we reduce water usage and drive cost savings for our valued customers. This position encourages professional development to become an industry leader in innovative ways to conserve and manage water.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial assessments, inspections, adjust and repair systems to ensure they perform to maximum efficiency and conserve water
  • Identify areas of improvement in irrigation systems; conduct and record detailed inspections and complete upgrades as necessary for existing irrigation systems
  • Troubleshoot irrigation systems to determine repair needs; always represent the company’s best interest, uphold the highest level of integrity and professionalism
  • Gather, update and analyze data for each account regarding water sources, points of connection, mainline location, services performed, parts installed and water usage
  • Understand and meet production and maintenance schedule deadline without sacrificing excellent customer service and/or exceptional quality
  • Maintain and care for company equipment, tools, and vehicle

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of industry
  • Proven ability to work in a demanding, deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Must be self-motivated, possess strong leadership skills and have a professional appearance and worth ethic
  • Must be detail oriented, possess critical thinking and quality results driven
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time, proven project management skills
  • Ability to be proactive, plan ahead and problem solve to minimize deficiencies, manage risk, and keep all tasks on schedule, within budget and on-time
  • Must take ownership of work and take responsibility of own actions
  • Must have the willingness to work with smart technology to include but not limited to smart phones, smart controllers, digital configurations....
  • Strong understanding, reading, and interpreting landscape and irrigation plan specifications, technical procedures and processes in accordance with county and city government regulations

Physical Requirements:

  • Will work outdoors 85% of the time
  • Employee is required to stand, walk, crouch, stoop and/or kneel; employee will regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
  • May be exposed to hazardous material, loud noise, and/or extreme heat/cold temperatures

Education and Experience:

  • 2 year college degree preferred
  • 2 years of industry related experience required; military experience may be substituted to meet position requirements
  • Irrigation Technician/Landscape Irrigator License issued by TCEQ preferred
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's License with a clean record
