Mechanic II: How you’ll contribute The Mechanic II, Maintenance is primarily responsible for timely completion of preventive maintenance, intermediate level troubleshooting, and highly effective repairs of GMP manufacturing equipment, clean utilities, and all associated support systems. Manufacturing equipment may include but is not limited to bioreactors, blow-fill-seal machines, autoclaves, fluid bed processors, pan coaters, tablet presses, robotic aseptic filling lines, aseptic vial filling lines, automatic visual testing equipment, etc. (relative to specific site operations). This role will also support monitoring & maintaining all base utilities, buildings, electrical systems, water systems (incoming, pure, & waste), steam systems, HVAC & refrigeration, Life Safety Systems, and grounds as necessary in a cGMP Facility. Ensure production and facility systems operate efficiently and properly by following set processes in addition to monitoring and inspecting equipment and facilities Complete assigned preventive & corrective maintenance and provide proper documentation of work performed in the computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) in accordance with policies and instructions Perform highly effective repairs of manufacturing equipment and all associated support systems and utilities with limited or no oversight required Assist or perform monitoring and maintaining boiler system including chemical testing and charging of brine tanks for feed water softeners as assigned Request assistance from more experienced or senior team members as needed to complete work in a safe and effective manner and aid less experienced or junior team members as requested or tasked Adhere to applicable standard operating procedures (SOPs). Attend and fully participate in all assigned training. Ensure all facility and production systems are cGMP compliant Ensure that vendors and contractors are trained in applicable company procedures regarding safety, environmental, and health in order to provide effective service in compliance with all ordinances such as electrical and construction codes Assist in special projects and/or construction projects, which may include demolition, renovation, and new construction Participate in emergency and after hours on-call rotation in order to ensure continuous operations of facility and production systems Perform other duties as assigned For this role you will need Mechanic II Minimum Requirements H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) 4 years of experience as maintenance personnel in an industrial, pharma/bio, or manufacturing environment Intermediate knowledge of cGMP and ISO regulatory requirements Intermediate ability to troubleshoot systems and components to ensure the safe and proper operation and adherence to building and local codes Intermediate ability to work independently on projects or assignments without close supervision or detailed instructions to maximize workplace productivity Ability to maintain records and reports (e.g., time sheets, daily work orders, time reports) to provide information and documentation and to comply with departmental policies Ability to work in an environment that includes dust and other debris using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the installation, maintenance, alteration, and repair of building/facility systems Ability to adhere to all regulatory and compliance requirements defined in Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) Willingness to learn new concepts to fully understand aseptic technique and demonstrate proper cleanroom behavior Ability to follow and execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Fundamental computer skills and ability to use tablet devices Intermediate understanding of equipment and methods of operation, including but not limited to: manufacturing/process equipment, BMS/BAS, fire/life safety, purified water, environmental monitoring, and other systems Mechanic II Preferred Qualifications Associates Degree in advanced technical training 4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/medical device industry (preferred) Senior Mechanic: How you’ll contribute The Sr. Maintenance Mechanic will monitor and maintain all building utility and process equipment including waste neutralization system, air handlers, air compressors, boilers, chillers and pure water systems. They will also provide assistance in supporting manufacturing processes by maintaining equipment including fluid bed processors, pan coaters, tablet presses, packaging lines, etc. Monitor and maintain boiler system including chemical testing and charging of brine tanks for feed water softeners Maintain and document daily activities pertaining to plant pure water system, system readings, charging of brine tanks etc. Perform on demand work order request Perform scheduled preventative maintenance work orders for facilities and manufacturing equipment Assist the Maintenance Manager in ordering parts and ensuring accurate inventory information Cleaning of work areas All other duties and activities as needed Senior Mechanic Minimum Requirements H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) 6 years of experience in a pharmaceutical, food, or chemical manufacturing environment in a maintenance mechanic position Excellent verbal and written communication skills, communicating across all levels and functions of the business Experience in troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic, electronic and hydraulic control systems Demonstrated working knowledge in the use of test equipment such as digital voltmeters, temperature probes and pneumatic calibrators Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision as well as in a heavily team-focused environment Customer focused, with ability multi task and maintain the quality of work Strong organization and problem-solving skills Understand priorities of systems to maintain building function Troubleshoot and operate complex automation systems Must have intermediate PC skills and experience with software for tracking and scheduling preventative maintenance events Microsoft Office, Outlook experience/knowledge Senior Mechanic Preferred Qualifications Associates Degree AutoCAD experience At United Therapeutics, you’ll realize quickly that it is not an ordinary place to work!
