Job Description: *
General Summary*
The Risk and Compliance Specialist, under general supervision and in compliance with all federal and state regulations and established USSFCU policies and procedures, is responsible primarily for performing independent testing activities (testing and on-going monitoring) to assess the design and effectiveness of key controls designed to address risk; reporting and escalating control issues and any violations of regulatory requirements or breaches of policy; and validating adequacy of remediation taken to address reported issues. This position requires attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate well across all levels of the organization.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
1.Perform key control testing, which includes conducting reviews based upon regulatory requirements, processes, and policies.
2. Partner with process owners to document controls, enhance control language, and develop/maintain test scripts that validate controls are being performed in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to mitigate risks to the Credit Union.
3.Coordinate control testing activities, including logistical scheduling and document retrieval to support control testing in accordance with internal requirements.
4. Assist in the registration and tracking of identified issues and corrective action plans to validate remediation efforts.
5. Respond to risk and compliance inquiries, and potential risk event management as needed.
6. Perform data analysis, and report preparation, utilizing business intelligence tools.
7. Assist with the coordination of audits, examinations, and deliverable requirements from internal and external reviewers.
8. Collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and leaders across multiple divisions to achieve objectives.
9. Assist with the coordination of division-related activities and deliverables to ensure effective collaboration within the team and across stakeholder groups.
10. Assist with special projects, on an as needed basis.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:

Education: *Bachelor’s Degree or combination of education and equivalent experience.
Experience: 2 years relevant experience in the Financial Services Industry. Candidates will be evaluated and leveled based on previous experience.
Knowledge of financial loan products, services, and loan documentation. Good prioritization and time management skills to meet deadlines timely on multiple tasks. Ability to work independently. Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills. Technical proficiencies in MS Office Suite programs, such as Word and Excel.
Understanding of rules, laws, and regulations, and specific regulatory requirements impacting financial services.
Experience performing quality assurance related tasks is a plus.
Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Customer focused with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment collaborating across diverse teams.
Preferred Experience: Experience with Verafin, Archer, Jack Henry Associates Core Systems
Credit Union knowledge and background
Experience with control testing is preferred, but not required.
