General Summary*:
The primary responsibility of the Director of Information Systems is to oversee day-to-day IT operations and performance for the credit union, which subsequently ensures optimal member and credit union team member satisfaction. This role assists in providing vision and leadership, working with the CIO to develop and direct enterprise-wide Information Technology (IT) systems, and has a specific focus on ensuring that our IT team is operating with the tools, guidance, and support needed to be recognized as an industry leader in our space.

Major Duties and Responsibilities*:

  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations and staff, managing IT policy while providing appropriate reporting and proactive action to ensure compliance, performance, and availability. Works with the IT Service Delivery Manager to effect change and ensure best-in-class support to our colleagues.
  • Work across other departments to identify, implement, and support new technologies and business process. Provide strategic recommendations as it relates to the organization's adoption of IT infrastructure (computer and information systems, security, communication systems) and emerging technologies and operations (DevOps, AI, etc.).
  • Facilitates and responds to regular IT audit activities to meet regulatory requirements, as well as in alignment with ongoing/recurring cybersecurity posture assessments.
  • Ensures smooth delivery and operation of IT services by reporting on systems performance, creating baseline standards and identifying process/platform improvement in a data driven fashion using company business intelligence platforms.
  • Leverages a method of documented processes and standards for the selection, implementation, and support of IT systems, software, and other supporting components.
  • Provides routine review and improvement of IT policies, procedures, and reporting.
  • Acts as one of the IT team’s incident response managers, coordinating communication, resources, and reporting as needed through the incidence response policy.
  • Manages performance of subordinate staff members. This includes writing and delivering performance appraisals, coaching, and counseling staff members, writing, and administering performance improvement plans and other tasks necessary to ensure effective performance of subordinate staff members. Recommends hires, promotions, transfers, salary increases, bonuses, disciplinary actions, and terminations for IT staff.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and training to IT staff to ensure that staff are continually challenged with an opportunity to grow their careers, take on ownership/leadership roles, and learn new technologies that may be outside their immediate comfort zone.
  • Facilitates workforce management in a data driven fashion, forecasting project backlog completion, resource overhead, and any strategic opportunities to align IT process/service management with broader organizational project management activities.
  • Manage and track the consumption of the IT department's annual budget using company business intelligence platforms and resources.
  • Act as a champion for change, continual improvement, and innovation, positively representing the IT to the organization, the industry, and our partners.

Required Experience:

Education: *Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: 8 to 12 years of progressively responsible experience within IT organizations. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate strategic involvement or outlook; At least five (5) years of team leadership or other supervisory experience a must.
Skills: Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development, and an ability to integrate that with an organization’s larger strategic plan. Strong knowledge of fundamentals including IT service management, end user computing systems, networking, virtualization concepts, emerging tech and board industry security standards. Specific experience with VMware, Microsoft 365, Dell, and/or Tableau is preferred. Knowledge of banking operations and IT infrastructure within financial institutions, including familiarity with core processing platforms is preferred. Requires strategic thinking, the ability to concentrate in a distracting environment, and the ability to interpret complex data into actionable tasks that support organizational objectives. Requires the ability to work a very flexible schedule from various locations.
Communication: Must have superior interpersonal skills and be comfortable engaging with people from a wide variety of roles, cultures, and economic backgrounds.
