About this role: 

As the first point of contact for all those arriving at the USGA Experience and World Golf Hall of Fame, the Welcome Ambassador is a brand representative responsible for creating a welcoming environment, providing excellent customer service, and assisting visitors with checking in upon arrival.

The USGA Experience and World Golf Hall of Fame Welcome Ambassador is a permanent, part-time position at the USGA Experience and World Golf Hall of Fame in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

The schedule for this role varies, and will include shifts during the following days and times:

  • Mondays – Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
  • Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.
  • Fridays – Sundays from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

*Position hours may vary based on availability.

This role is responsible for general visitor services, USGA membership activations, and occasional gift shop sales. The individual in this role must enjoy working with people, present themselves in a pleasant and professional manner, and have flexibility to adjust schedules with the other Welcome Ambassadors if necessary.

You will share this position with two other Welcome Ambassadors and two Retail Ambassadors. This position has a tentative start date of Monday, April 22, 2024.

What you'll do:

  • Warmly greet and accommodate visitors and ensure they feel welcomed, and their presence valued. Accurately and thoughtfully respond to visitor questions in a professional, knowledgeable, and informative manner. Provide a brief overview of the permanent and rotating exhibits at the USGA Experience and World Golf Hall of Fame.
  • Answer the front desk phone and any general related inquiries, properly direct incoming phone calls and guests to appropriate USGA staff members.
  • Maintain and handle an organized front desk and welcome area. Reconcile cash and credit card sales at the beginning and end of the day.
  • Provide support for Gift Shop as necessary.
  • Provide support for on-site events including large scale meetings/symposiums, press conferences, events, etc. Support for activities includes setup, registering, credentialing, and directing visitors to event locations. May also include assisting with event planning and preparations.
  • Perform special projects as assigned. Additional duties as needed.
  • Necessary to relieve Retail Ambassadors for breaks/lunch.

Where you'll be: 

  • This role will be based at our new headquarters in Pinehurst, North Carolina, scheduled to open in Dec. 2023. Candidates will be expected to travel to our Liberty Corner, New Jersey campus for training prior to Golf House Pinehurst opening. 

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Familiar with computerized POS system (Square).
  • Ability to operate a cash register and account for sales.
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral), interpersonal skills, and good organizational skills.
  • Articulate, punctual, proactive, responsive, and efficient.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A professional and conscientious disposition with a focus on customer care.
  • Ability to work as both a team player and independently without direct oversight.
  • Occasional overtime and weekend coverage may be required as necessary.
