Position Overview

The Recycling Center Ticket Writer views material, negotiates a price and generates a ticket, while upholding the company’s customer service standards. Reports to and receives direction from the Recycling Center Supervisor, with a dotted line to the Recycling Center Manager.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Seeks new business development and retention of Recycling Center customer base
• Consistent execution of Sales and Marketing Plan with the integration of the Sales Team
• Constant improvement and positive growth while maintaining targeted levels of profitability within the Recycling Center
• Develops long term relationships with customers and suppliers and short-term strategies that are consistent with the corporate vision
• Implements customer oriented operating procedures, standards and benchmarks
• Operates with integrity while upholding ethical standards of the organization
• Facilitates external and internal communication
• Executes excellent verbal communication and negotiating skills
• Develops intuition towards target markets (Manufacturing, Metal Service Centers, Demo / Contractors, Facility, Scrap Recyclers, Utility, and Obsolete / Repairs)
• Responds to inquiries regarding the scope of our services and capabilities
• Views material and corresponding quotation; responds to incoming telephone call quotations
• Grades material and writes ticket with proper pricing via the Recycling Center’s computerized system
• Directs team members in order to facilitate a safe and clean work environment
• Engages with current customers for referrals, leads and new opportunities
• Understands the market threats posed by our competitors
• Finds profitable niche markets
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently to meet department and company goals while adhering to all company, safety and health policies
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions such as extreme heat or cold, dusty, dirty and/or wet conditions
• Must demonstrate competency in all aspects of the job and company objectives
• Demonstrates understanding of company policies, rules and trainings
• Other duties as assigned

Desired Characteristics

• Minimum High School Diploma; college degree or equivalent related job experience preferred
• Direct customer service and/or sales experience
• Fluency in English; working knowledge / basic communication in Spanish
• Experience in the metal industry/ manufacturing / heavy industrial environment preferred
• Possesses a basic understanding of how a company operates financially
• Ability to be “hands on” while training and supporting coworkers
• Participates in personal ongoing development
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently to meet department and company goals while adhering to all company, safety and health policies
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions such as extreme heat or cold, dusty, dirty and/or wet conditions
• The Company desires a candidate who has shown a stable job history, dependable attendance practices and whose references can state is a trustworthy individual
• Candidate must pass a pre-employment physical, background and credit check
• Able to fulfill flexible scheduling requirements as determined by the manager and / or business needs of the operation
