The USI Building Substitute teacher is a full-time member of our team. The primary responsibility of the substitute will be to fill unexpected and planned absences from teachers and support staff, ensuring a smooth transition for students and limited disruption to their regular routine. The substitute will collaborate with staff to deliver instruction and procedures that are highly aligned to that of their regular teacher. The substitute will report directly to the School Principal assigned to for the day, while working closely with classroom teachers and support staff. The substitute will work at each of the USI schools on one of two campuses daily - Avondale Meadows or Vision Academy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintain frequent and open communication with school administrators to coordinate coverages for absences
• Remain at school during the entire school day unless excused by the principal
• Maintain as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the
• school, classroom and position to which assigned.
• Follow lesson plans, schedules and instructions left by the teacher
• Perform all extra duties for the absent employee as required by the building principal (arrival, dismissal, lunch, etc).
• Manage student behavior in alignment to school systems and implement all school policies and procedures
• Maintain a professional appearance and conduct personal behavior to serve as an example for students
• Collaborate with teachers to deliver daily lessons in ELA and Math;
• Support a safe and respectful classroom culture through effective classroom management and positive behavior techniques;
• Provide a brief summary with feedback/updates to teachers following coverage;
• Supervise students during non-instructional time (recess, lunch);
• Support teachers with small group instruction and student behaviors;
• Attend and participate in all professional development opportunities.
• Attend monthly staff meetings.
• Daily hours: 7:30am-4:00pm
