This position is located within the UN Women Department of Management and Administration, Office of the Security & Safety Services Section. The Education Consultant for Communicating for Meaning reports directly to the UN Women Global Security Advisor. The role has a requirement for the consultant to travel to fulfil the role.
In line with the UN Women Security and Safety Services Biannual Work Plan (BWP), organizational setting and available resources; the Education Consultant for Communicating for Meaning whilst ensuring the continued promulgation of the UN Women mandate, will be responsible for the following:
1. Developing roll-out strategy for the ‘Communicating For Meaning’ Course
Deliverables: The Consultant will liaise with all appropriate units, divisions and sections internally, utilizing all available mediums and will coordinate the completion of the below:
2. Delivery of the ‘Communicating For Meaning’ Course to the HQ and field offices

3. Update of the UN Women Security and Safety Services Section Intranet portal, to reflect the ‘Communicating For Meaning’ Course as a part of Security and Safety Services education curriculum
Deliverables: The Consultant will liaise with all appropriate units, divisions and sections internally, utilizing all available mediums and will coordinate the completion of the below:
4. Coordination with the UN Women Regional Security Specialists
All deliverables will be completed concurrently within a six month time-frame.
Professionalism: Ability to identify issues, analyse and participate in the resolution of obstacles that may impede the roll-out strategy. Has the ability to conduct data collection using various methods, apply judgment in the context of assignments given, plan of work and manage conflicting priorities. Shows pride in work and achievements, just persistence and overcomes challenges; remains calm in stressful situations.
Communication: possesses good communication skills spoken and written, including the ability to draft/edit in a clear concise style. Has in-depth experience with making presentations including workshops, chairing meetings, drafting official documents and intranet development.
Planning and organizing: is able to plan and organize work to meet imposed deadlines, conflicting priorities, changes in focus; working under pressure, using resources and time efficiently to ensure the completion of deliverables. Must demonstrate the ability to act independently with restricted managerial oversight.
Education
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in international relations, security, communications, journalism, development, administration and planning, political science, business, social sciences or other relevant field.
A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in security, communications, trainings, -, project management, monitoring and evaluation, or related field.
Languages
Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of other UN official languages is an advantage.
