We are seeking, kind, compassionate, caring, skilled, knowledgeable Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants to join our team in serving our communities Louisiana.

CHARGE NURSE:

Job Overview: Job Summary: Responsible for the leading and directing all clinical patient care within the hospital. Strong leadership and managerial skills and abilities. Maintains performance improvement activities within the unit and participates in PI activities. Assures competency of all nursing personnel. Formulates a budget, evaluates department performance versus budget and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines. Develops and implements tool pertaining to and with hospital policies and procedures. Maintains efficient and effective unit operation while requiring compliance with all state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Implements plans which addresses legal and other regulatory agency requirements.
  • Participates in planning, updating and promulgating departmental goals in keeping with the organizational mission/vision/value statements.
  • Set priorities for performance improvement, including mechanisms to reprioritize in response to unusual or urgent events.
  • Effectively communicates to staff the mission, vision and values of the organization.
  • Ensures services are provided in a timely manner and meets client needs.
  • Identifies need for contractual services to provide direct care.
  • Implements and assures orientation of contractual help.
  • Monitors level of performance of contract personnel.
  • Ensures participation of staff as appropriate in organizational policies, procedures and client care standards.
  • Ensures participation of staff as appropriate in facility plan for providing client care.
  • Ensures participation of staff as appropriate in ongoing programs to measure, assess and improve performance.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the responsibilities of each position under his/her charge as it pertains to the facilities plan for patient care, so as to, target and hire qualified candidates for clinical positions in the facility.
  • Assists in the coordinating and integration of all hospital services.
  • Ensures staff performance evaluations are given in a timely manner.
  • Maintains an "open door" policy with all employees.
  • Maintains ongoing communication to staff regarding job performance.
  • Maintains quality control programs.
  • Provides in-service/continuing education as appropriate.
  • Prepares and maintains facility reports as required.
  • Collaborates with Medical Directors to ensure communication, coordination, and input into medical decisions about the unit.
  • Ensures proper retention of records, files, and patient information.
  • Ensures departmental meeting occur monthly.
  • Demonstrates competency in the following areas: Duties and Responsibilities.
  • Ensures that staff participates in interdepartmental activities to improve hospital performance and clinical care.
  • Ensures responsibility for taking action on QI recommendations as assigned and defined in writing and that actions are carried out.
  • Ensures staff receives quality improvement training.
  • Performance Improvement is documented on all projects and routed through administration.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement activities to continuously and systematically assess and improve internal processes, activities and patient care as described in patient care plan for improving performance.
  • Facilitates the implementation and ongoing monitoring of hospital-based Quality Improvement contributions.
  • Communicates quality indicators effectiveness or lack of to Administration.
  • Identifies problematic situations and routes issues appropriately to achieve resolution.
  • Promotes positive resolution to conflict.
  • Coordinates the delivery of clinical care.
  • Promotes staff understanding and support of departmental processes of client care and organizational functions.
  • Participates in development and ensures implementation of staffing plans.
  • Provides for shift to shift adjustment of skill mix and allocation of personnel based on census, acuity and complexity of care needs. Documents and justifies variances.
  • Obtains a minimum of five (5) job related contact hours every year to meet Louisiana Board of Nursing requirements.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience:

Regulatory Requirements: Current Louisiana Registered Nurse License. Certification in Rehab Nursing preferred. Three or more years clinical experience, at least one providing rehab care. One or more year's management experience. BCLS required, ACLS preferred.
