United Medical Center is Hiring a Registered Nurse (ED) Near Washington, DC

ER nurses deliver care in an emergency department where patients arrive with a full spectrum of disease and/or injury. Ability to interview, assess triage and establish priority of care is essential. ER Nurses are responsible for the coordinating of and performing direct nursing care for patients, utilizing concepts of the nursing process

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, assesses, and evaluates care provided to members.
  • In conjunction with physicians, evaluates and develops discharge plans, recommends alternative levels of care, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Critical thinking to intervene with appropriate intervention for urgent/emergent care.
  • Head-to-toe assessments - knowledge of normal vs. abnormal findings and reporting of abnormal findings to Charge Nurse.
  • Critical thinking to intervene with appropriate intervention for urgent/emergent care. Care of the acute and chronically ill patients
  • Encourages members to follow plans of care (e.g., drug therapy, physical therapy).
  • Makes referrals to appropriate community services.
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities for cost savings and improving the quality of care across the continuum.
  • Interprets regulations, health plan benefits, policies, and procedures for members, physicians, medical office staff, contract providers, and outside agencies.
  • Coordinates transmission of clinical and benefit treatment to patients, families and outside agencies.
  • Minimum 2 years ER experience
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. BSN degree in nursing preferred
  • Current D.C. licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Have and maintain current BLS, ACLS and PALS
