Performs computerized tomography (CT) exam/procedures of patients as requested by a Licensed Independent Practitioner, in a safe manner utilizing ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) standards. Clearly explains CT exam/procedure and assures physical and psychosocial safety of patient(s). Reviews images to ensure appropriate diagnostic quality and reason for exam/procedure is achieved via diagnosis.

Job Responsibilities:

• Greets patient, confirms exam/procedure to be performed and thoroughly explains exam/procedure to patient.
• Reviews patient’s medical history prior to performing CT exam/procedure for clinical accuracy to ensure correct exam/procedure to be performed.
• Complete exam/procedure per protocol to ensure patient safety and accuracy of exam/procedure. To include contrast where applicable as indicated by Licensed Independent Practitioner (Radiologist, ED Physician, House MD)
• Assure all images are acquired and quality control is completed prior to image being sent to PACS.
• Ensure all pertinent information is submitted to Radiologist for optimal clinical interpretation.
• Maintains equipment and examination room, keeps inventory of related supplies stocked as necessary
• Effectively conveys knowledge to all pertinent individuals of exam/procedure to be performed.
• Provides effective patient center care, to include IV starts and Contrast injections etc.
• Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to radiologist via PACS and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the exam/procedure.
• Maintains effective quality control of exam/procedures, identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper identification on all images.
• Demonstrates ability to organize patient care and set priorities by providing critical care first and by implementing the practitioner’s orders.
• Performs proper computer skills and shows working knowledge of patient orders, status changes, patient charges and profiles.

• Graduate of an accredited school of radiology.
• Two years of recent experience as a Radiological Technologist with current ARRT required.
• ARRT advanced certification in CT required within one year of CT hire.
• Venipuncture competency checks off or must acquire competency check off within 3 months of hire.
